What makes One Music Server Sound Better than Another?
I got the idea using the ferrite cores from reading that IT professionals add them to the ethernet cables going into their large banks of switches in network rooms.

Antipodes also sell the server and player as separate boxes. The K22/K41 is equivalent to the K50 in outputs and performance. I considered that option but it ends up costing more after buying an extra power cord and extra ethernet cable. I looked ...

Well jji666, you have a contra point to every point.  That is called being pedantic.   I wish you happiness enjoying this hobby in your own way.

I plan to write a review of my new music server after I've had it a month or so.  But I will list a few things that persuaded me to keep it. 1)  The music sounds better.  All digital grain, glare- that cringing that happens with peaks in the musi...

I had the good server and got a great DAC.  Tried the great server with the 30 day trial safety net.  Great server is not going back.   Previous server was a NUC based RS9 (an improved version of the Nucleus+) with a Keces P8 LPS.  I thought it s...

Dear mdalton, I looked at your big rig.  Very nice indeed.  Let me ask you- which do you prefer most when listening, your vinyl source or your digital source?   I going to guess your vinyl source.  I bet you hear a difference in not just the soun...
What makes One Music Server Sound Better than Another?
The answer is that of course it can, but the DAC is also a significant part of that result.  Bad DAC= bad sound.  Average DAC + Avg server= avg sound.  Good DAC + avg server= good sound.  Good DAC+Good Server= great sound.

Dear jji666, you miss the point about catching chickens.  Here is the point:  You can talk about how best to catch a chicken but until you have experience catching chickens, what you have to say is mostly meaningless.   The First Rule of Audio:  ...

Well, it’s clear he has never caught a chicken.
What makes One Music Server Sound Better than Another?
Dear jji666, if only the world and streaming music were so simplistic as you would like.  Have you ever tried to catch a chicken?  In theory it is very simple.  Reach down and grab the chicken.  In practice it is much more difficult.
New streamer
I have two dedicated lines to my stereo. One feeds the amps and one the front end via the AQ Niagara 5000. I just double checked. I have the two breakers on the same leg. I used to have them on separate legs to "balance" the power. But as someone ...
Aries-Cerat Helene Review
As a follow-up I have had the Hele'ne for seven weeks now.  It has performed flawlessly and I have heard changes through the first month as it went through break-in.  The changes were subtle, basically just more of everything I posted originally. ...
I want to replace the router/modem Comcast with a high quality for streaming
I got a Netgear CM1000 modem to replace my Spectrum supplied modem.  I use Ifi low noise power supplies with both the modem and mesh router.  I didn't hear much of a difference myself but since this modem performs better, ie less dropouts, fewer p...
Fleetwood Deville vs Wilson Sound
Wilson Audio speakers were never cheap.  The first time I heard a pair of Watt/Puppies in 1996, I was smitten.  As bad as I wanted a pair they were out of reach for me back then.  I bought a pair of Thiels which I felt came close but still wasn’t ...
750$ Intel NUC vs $6000 Aurender N200: I don't hear the difference
I see five types on these forums: 1) Audiophiles, hobbyists. These are enthusiasts who love sharing their equipment, experiences, what they have learned, and hearing about other’s experiences and equipment. 2). The Cynics.  Those who love poking...
