Sussurro MkII and surface noise?
SMARTractor and AnalogMagik.
UPGRADE FROM VPI SCOUTMASTER
I can tell you that while at AXPONA I was in the Credo Audio / EMM / VPI room where the HW-40 was being used. While in there HW, at an opportune moment, started pounding on the rack the HW-40 was sitting on while it was playing. Not a ripple in th...
Sussurro MkII and surface noise?
You might be right, lewm. There's no doubt it is noisier, but I have read that OCLC types are very sensitive to set up. Maybe I need to experiment a bit. I'd be surprised, though, if the cart could quiet down so much from where it is with break-in...
UPGRADE FROM VPI SCOUTMASTER
I am sure that the new DD with "Fatboy" gimbled arm at 30K is a great deck.Small correction. Pretty sure the HW40 (if that's what you're referring to) with the Fatboy gimbal can be had for $15K, less with a trade in. Still not cheap by any means, ...
Anyone hear pass XP27 phono preamp
Well, my A95 is not yet fully broken in, but I find it to be incredibly resolving, fast, dynamic. It has great "propulsion" I guess I'll call it, great soundstaging, almost tape-like in its musicality. I've never heard the A90 so I can't really co...
Anyone hear pass XP27 phono preamp
Well, I already have a LP-S, an A-95, a SS Sussurro MkII and a Paua MkII ES (and a few other lesser but still enjoyable carts). At the moment I plan to hold off on any additional cart purchasing. :-)
Anyone hear pass XP27 phono preamp
Well, I have a VPI Avenger with various arms and carts and a Pass XP-20. Not sure if the jump to the 27 would get me enough the justify the difference in cost. Kent English and (I'm pretty sure) Desmond own and are quite happy with the 17.
Anyone hear pass XP27 phono preamp
@karmapolice , I'm interested in your continued thoughts on the 17 vs 27. I was planning to step up to the 17, partly because the 27 is (to me) quite a bit more money. I know it's a subjective question, but I'd like to know if you think the 27 is ...
Anyone hear the SS Paua Mk.II ES yet?
Thanks @sounwatts, although I was asking about the new ES version. In any event, which Benz did you have by comparison, and how does your Paua compare to that?
Soundsmith Progression: MIMC Star > Sussurro Mk II
But there is a small trough from about 300Hz to a few KHz. I'm going to assume this is by design. It could also be due to the capacitance in the phono ICs being used. i will have to check this.
Soundsmith Progression: MIMC Star > Sussurro Mk II
I finally installed the cartridge tonight. I first checked its frequency response with the Feickert Adjust+ disk. At 1,000 Ohms loaded on my Pass XP-15, there is a rise in the upper octaves. I lowered it to 250 Ohms and the upper octaves have leve...
Paradigm Persona series
We went through many different power condtioners including: Running Springs, Isotek, Audience, and Audio Magic, we even tested the Audioquet Niagra 7000, the Audio Magic was by far the best sounding with our setup.By any chance (just because I'm c...
DL-103r with a Soundsmith Retip revelation
Agreed. I just finished setting up a Purple Heart NS so I think I could do it, but there's something to be said for a backup cart that's completely painless to set up. :-) Maybe I'll compromise with the SS hyper-elliptical.
DL-103r with a Soundsmith Retip revelation
Thanks. I don't see the line contact / aluminum cantilever option on the SS site. How long did it take, and what was the price?
DL-103r with a Soundsmith Retip revelation
How did you get Line Contact on the aluminum cantilever? I thought the AL pipe came with a hyper-elliptical. I was looking at a SS retip as I recently bent the cantilever on my 103R. I was hesitant because I frankly like the conical stylus on the ...
