My experience with long ICs
S23, this sounds like an interesting idea. Any thoughts on the value for the cap? And I assume the RCA jack on the preamp would have to be isolated from the chassis (if it isn't already) in order for this to work.
My experience with long ICs
Oldpet, Frank and I emailed quite a bit about this situation. At that point we were still scratching our heads about why this was happening with a shielded design, but he did not make any recommendations for any custom solution. Maybe I'll drop hi...
Signal Cable -- High End Generic?
"in my opinion though Signal Cables do not provide the best performance attainable and there are better cables out there"Bob, are you saying this relative to Signal Cable's price point? If so I would like to hear your suggestions for alternates in...
Poor man's IC cooker?
Thanks for the link, Matty. The Hagerman looks pretty nice. A number of positive posts about it from Audio Asylum users, too.
Poor man's IC cooker?
Thanks 76! I'm just a little lost here; can you pass along the link to his site?
Poor man's IC cooker?
Okay, I see that. But that would suggest current is more important than voltage for IC burn in. Do we know this to be the case? I mean, it is a tradeoff to some degree. Isn't a higher voltage better for dielectric break in purposes?
Best component video cable under $150?
"Silver is a bad idea because it can tarnish very easily and depending on how the wire is terminated could seriously affect how long the cable will maintain optimal performance."Cinematic_systems, I've been using silver (not silver coated) audio c...
Poor man's IC cooker?
Isn't a value that low a little risky, Bob? Is there a concern that a preamp may not be able to drive into a load that small without potential problems?
Poor man's IC cooker?
I just had a thought. I'm sure this has been discussed, but WRT dropping the load resistance... what is the more important component to burning in an IC - voltage or current? If I drop the load value I also drop the voltage across the two conducto...
Poor man's IC cooker?
Hmm, that's a great thought, Jeff. We do have a Goodwill store a short drive away.
Poor man's IC cooker?
I'm glad to hear that this seems like a good way to go. Jeff, unfortunately the only sources I have are my turntable and CD player, neither of which I want to run for a couple of hundred hours straight.I picked 100KOhms because that approximates t...
Anyone compared Guerrilla PC's to anything...?
Vernon, which ICs were you using? And did you replace them with Guerilla Silver or Copper?
Need HT cable advice.
Scott, I've just been testing Bettercables Silver Serpent component cables against the 7712 set from Blue Jeans and, while they are both very nice, I happen to think the Bettercables produce a slightly beter picture (and sound, if that matters) in...
Mark Levinson/Revel Support is tops
Superfund, thanks for the confirming update. I will definitely give them a call to find out what they might be able to do with my PDT3 tuneup.

"The $1000. is the most you would pay if the product was totally rebuilt."Sgr, I don't doubt what you're telling me, but at the time I spoke with them this is not what they said. I had to ask them to explain it to me three times because I could no...
