speaker shopping
FWIW, I have used a Classe Audio DR-15 with my Sonus Faber Electa Amator speakers for the past twenty years, and I’m still happy with the results. I can’t comment on the effect of the 4 ft knee walls (or even what they are-LOL) but I’m certain tha...

Thanks, vegasears, you've just made my point!
Best female vocal recording on CD?
tomcy6,I took your advice and bought the Emmylou Harris Songbird box set. I'm listening to it now, and can tell I won't be disappointed. This really is MY kind of music. While it may not be for everyone, it just suits me. Amazing job of mixing! Th...
Oppo 105D high frequencey sizzling issue anyone help me suggesting a mod that i can do or?
You asked for advice, so here it is. Pay the $119 for the new board. Oppo will test it before returning it to you. If the problem is not cured, that'll be one less thing you'll need to consider. As an alternative, do the things you suggested BEFOR...
Wadia WT3200 repair
I have wanted a Wadia WT 2000 since I first saw one in the early 1990's. I see them come up for sale now at a fraction of the price when new. I have to remind myself that repairs are inevitable on units this old. I hope you are able to get the inf...
Best band never to release a truly great album?
This is a very old thread that I noticed in the archives. I just wanted to see the opinions of others on the topic, but then I read the original posting. I don't want to be judgmental, but anyone who thinks Jethro Tull hasn't made a "truly great a...
Should I consider the newer Audio Research pre & power amps, when I play records not CD's
I don’t own, but have always admired, Audio Research equipment. I have read many passionate reviews about the virtues of ARC, so I tend to believe them. Their vintage gear is pricey, but easier to liquidate when the upgrade bug hits. I see an ARC ...
is the Audiogon auction clock accurate?
I had a similar experience. In the last minute, several bids came through. The winning bid, or what I thought was the winning bid, was below my maximum bid. Obviously, I was upset and let Audiogon know it via email. I couldn’t understand how my bi...
VPI Scout 2 vs. Luxman PD 441
I agree. I sold my Luxman PD 444 because I didn't think I needed two arms. I have regretted it since. I would replace the Denon arm. So, to answer your last question, I believe that you could sell the PD 441 to recoup some of the cost of an upgrad...

Initially, I said that buying equipment was analogous to the stock market. "Analogous" simply means that something is like, or similar to, something else-not precisely the same. My comment was first taken out of context, and then blown out of prop...

cleeds,Look, this is a "forum." In a forum, you’re free to express your opinion. No one asks for your opinion of their opinion, although you are free to share it. If you don’t like what you’ve read...just get over it!
How to go about getting a new arm board for a new tonearm
I'm sure VPI accepts that many of their tables, especially the higher end ones, use tonearms that are not VPI. They have a great reputation for service. Give them a call, or email.
