Stax ESL loudspeakers servicing
That link to ElectroStatic Solutions looks promising for repair of Stax speakers. Considering the rarity, expect to pay dearly. I would contact them in advance for estimates on replacement panels or rebuild before pulling the trigger on a purchase.
Stax ESL loudspeakers servicing
I’m a big fan of Stax and own two pairs of their headphones that I will never sell. However, I don’t believe they have made speakers for many (very many, I believe) years. I’m surprised you found a working pair. Since electrostatic panels have an ...
Alert, Warning, and Caution about Modified Components
Here is my cautionary tale on modifications. I bought a Denon 3520 CD player years ago. A friend offered to modify/update everything under the hood for $350. It made sense, so I agreed. After modification, it sounded wonderful. A couple months lat...
My system sounds better than ever.......Yet, I STILL bought another preamp!!
My system includes a tube preamp and a s/s amp, and it has never sounded better. It's strange that I would notice this thread because this weekend I'm going to a store that has another preamp that I'm considering buying just for the variety. Just ...
Your favourite Rush albums?
prof,You're entitled to your opinion. You should probably ask the opinion of the fans who were waiting for the show. I don't think it matters whether Peart was on his sailboat or riding his motorcycle, he should be there for the soundcheck and eve...
Your favourite Rush albums?
That’s an interesting post about the November,1981 Florida concert. I don’t think it matters whether it’s Mick Jagger, Paul McCartney or Neil Peart. If you are putting on a concert (and getting paid), you need to be there. Late is bad, not showing...
Your favourite Rush albums?
I love Rush, particularly "Moving Pictures" and "Greatest Hits". I really enjoyed the documentary about Rush’s final concert tour. Today, I bought "2112" and "Hemispheres" on the recommendations of the audiophile Rush fans here on the forum. I’m l...
Sales History of specific items that sold over last 12 months
htsys,Everything you said in the last post makes sense. Just remember that the "x-factor" with used audio equipment is the provenance (if it can be verified). As an example, an amplifier offered by a first owner where the amp was never moved and s...

Sales History of specific items that sold over last 12 months
htsys,No one is bent out of shape over your question. You probably didn’t realize that that is a feature available on Audiogon for additional cost. I believe you get it free with "Insider" membership. You might check if you are interested. You mak...

jetter, erik did a good job of explaining himself, but I'm sure he appreciates your leaping to his defense. I really have no issue with erik, I'm just tired of these random and all too frequent Tekton threads.
Tekton tweeter design
erik,You say you are "...neither a fan boy nor a detractor of Tekton," yet you are the originator of this thread and the most frequent responder. I have to ask you, what is your affiliation with Tekton? Please don’t tell me that you are just an ent...
Manufacturers pushing their products and agenda in the forums.
Please, let's not denigrate a line from a Dylan tune. I'm quite sure he would want no part of these discussions. Just to recap, what is disturbing are the frequent threads that are slipped into the forum by people feigning enthusiasm for particula...

Oh please, not ANOTHER Tekton thread!
Cassette tape
I'm no cheapskate but don't forget that you can still find good quality cassettes at thrift store for twenty-five cents, yes $0.25. I also find CDs at thrift stores for forty cents, yes $0.40. Good times!
