Speaker recommendations :-)
@lammjunkie  "At this moment i don't have speakers, sold last one already." Interesting first post. So, what are you listening to while you have $250M worth of components and no speakers?
Demise of bass quality in Main speakers
@emergingsoul  "I can see bookshelves needing subwoofers as bookshelves probably aren't known for their Great bass experiences." You are correct that bookshelf speakers are more likely to benefit from the addition of subwoofers, but even if you ...
Bang for the buck
@labguy  I don't want to speak for all members, but many believe that judging audio equipment predominantly based on measurement results is a flawed process. Measurements are critical when considering a piece of equipment, but they believe that ...
Demise of bass quality in Main speakers
@emergingsoul  "Omg, I can’t believe how people are rationalizing the use of subwoofers when their main speakers are not adequate to do a good job with bass." I'm not sure why you have this opinion about poor bass and big woofers.  The size of ...
Bang for the buck
@labguy  "Are there any suggestions from audio science review?" Seriously? Asking that here is like walking into a vegetarian restaurant and asking if they make a good ribeye.
ATC SCM19 V2 Recommendations.
@jerrybj  Even if the Auva is better than the Gaia's, I could never get past the idea that I paid over $1,000 USD for eight hockey pucks. Maybe if I wasn't Canadian?
My Oppo 105 finally bricked. Streamer suggestions?
@simao  I had an issue with an Oppo BDP 83 a couple of years ago (tray malfunction) and Oppo fixed it for a flat $99 fee which included return shipping and I live in Canada. Very impressive considering they have stopped making any players.
Premium Power Cable Survey: The Results Are IN
@waytoomuchstuff  Thanks for doing the survey. Always interesting to see how other people approach sound quality and equipment.
Premium Power Cable Survey: The Results Are IN
@mrskeptic  "If it's based on listening when the person knew the brand and cost of the cable, (in other words, not objective) your survey is pointless. But if that's how you want to spend your time, so be it." You have named yourself well. Almos...
What is the most challenging music to play on a stereo?
Cymbals and anything by Yoko Ono.
Goodbye Everyone
@elliottbnewcombjr  I know this decision wasn't made lightly, so I would never try to question your motives. After all, as much as we like to feel it is important, the fact is that this is only a forum for audiophiles. Not all that important in ...
Tidal class-action
@audioisnobiggie  Surprised, but not surprised. Ditched MQA long ago and Qobuz is finally coming to Canada in May, so it will soon be adios to Tidal as well. What does intrigue me is what happens to the pirates at MQA should they be deemed to h...
Forced to DIY
@erik_squires  In the past, we have gutted and renovated houses three times and you just learn how to do things. That being said, I always shied away from plumbing.  There was always just to much to lose if I screwed up somehow. Recently I have...
Is It Common For Questions About Gear For Sale To Go Unanswered?
From the VPI site. "These discounted "B Stock" tables may have minor scratches and blemishes, however their functionality remain at peak performance." I find it strange that someone would list the turntable as B stock, but then refuse to acknowl...
