Tube Amp Suggestions
Wow! This is like some Monty Python lost episode. I think Dida is actually Eric Idle (wink, wink, nod, nod).
Besides Audio, what other ''passion'' do you have?
Kickboxing (although being 53 I've cut back on sparring and heavy pad work by maybe 75%) and Latin & ballroom dancing with my wife.Believe it or not, I can out-last and out-wind 80% of the young guys in our boxing group but, of course, I've si...
Remembering Laura Branigan
And six years younger than me!Her condition was not really age dependent. It's suspected this is what killed Bruce Lee.
No Audiophiles in Hollywood
Marty,I'm surprised they didn't go ahead and use it. Friends of mine were hired as technical advisors for a dance movie and none of their advise was taken unless it meshed with the director's ideas. Director would want someone to do something even...
No Audiophiles in Hollywood
Got two:1) Bernie Mac Show - His den (shown every episode) has Martin Logan speakers but what look like generic gear, maybe Adcom or Rotel.2) A 1980s movie (have no idea of name) in which the protaganist, a teenage guy, is taking stereo equipment ...
5 CD's on your current "permanent " rotation.
This is gonna date me like the other entries have done to most everyone else, but...1) Santana - "Caravanseria"2) Santana - "Welcome"3) McLaughlin/Santana - "Love, Devotion, and Surrender"4) Miles Davis - "Miles Smiles"5) Bob Dylan - "Nashville Sk...
Remembering Jerry
Blah, blah, blah...O.K. guys, you make some good points. I listened to "Working Man's Dead" last night and it is a damn good record and I did used to really like Live/Dead from 1969 or 70. I bought those when they came out along with Howard Wales'...
Remembering Jerry
Sorry, but Jerry needed to grow up and use his brain. To be a drug addict into your mid 50s? Stupid. I also think his music was primarily 'noodling' along on his guitar, although I do like his stuff with people like Dave Grusin, etc.
The tweeter on my speaker has a crater...Help
These things can be fixed pretty easily. I've used the vacuum method (very carefully and moving toward the tweeter with hose VERY slowly until it pulls out). Make sure no one is in room to distract you. Easy fix.
Whats is 'tube rolling'?
Don't become a victim of tube rolling! I have a shelf half full of bottles I haven't even had time to try yet. Beware!! Stop when the music keeps your ass in the chair! Then replace when one of them dies.
Live infectious funk jams....quality recordings
Phish - funk? Now, James Brown and the Famous Flames Live at the Appollo Theatre...that's funky! Otis Redding at the Monterey Pop Festival and an album live in Paris - oops! Guess I slipped into soul. Gap Band Live - I gotta get that!!
Which of these would you buy?
Vandys might be a bit soft sounding although I haven't heard the 3s in a few years. PSB Gold might be a good choice as I've heard them rock out hard in a dealer's showroom. Spendor's might also be a bit soft for you, JM Labs is known for a leaner ...
