Hi-end CD 5-disk Changers? Kevin - I have actually come to same conclusion and have bought 5 SACDs in anticipation of getting the Sony C2000 which appears to be an damn good bargin. You know, I got the idea for a multi-disc changer when, about 6 years ago, we were at a Chri...
Hi-end CD 5-disk Changers? Kevin - if you think there's enough SACD software to make it worthwhile, a Sony might be good idea but I still personally wouldn't buy a used multi-disc player. The last Sony SACD player I checked was still too slow for my tastes but I'm spoiled b...
Hi-end CD 5-disk Changers? I don't think Adcom makes a multi-disc player anymore and I, for one, would not buy a used CD player like this - too mechanical to be worth purchasing used.
which subwoofer? Another vote for REL Strata III which is nicely sized for your room and can most likely be properly placed in or near a corner. The Vandy is a very good sub, too, but it's quite big and has to be tailored for your speakers.
anyone heard the new thor tpa 150 monos? Larry...I agree with your 6550 remark. I, too, have noticed that kind of sound from many 6550 amps including one I owned, Mesa Baron. Great highs and lows but an overall somewhat fatiguing sound even after I had the gain lowered.
Hi-end CD 5-disk Changers? Of course this is mid-fi which is perfectly acceptable for background and especially parties. I use my Marantz as a transport with a DAC and also have a C.E.C. single disc transport. Marantz sounds pretty damn good that way and the C.E.C. is only ...
Hi-end CD 5-disk Changers? Another thought - why would Denon cheapen the Marantz line? What exactly has been done to cause them to loose sound quality? Gotta be careful about what dealers say. Also, the 3-4 year old CC4000SE I have is very quiet and I usually don't hear it ...
Hi-end CD 5-disk Changers? Kevin,Just an idea but I have a 3-4 yr old Marantz CC4000SE 5 disc changer that is used for same purpose - bakcground and parties. It was the fastest deck on the market then with disc changes, drawer openings, disc payback time literally twice as ...
Equalizers anyone? Good point, Sean. Unfortunately, my wife almost never listens with me and I only have friends over for real music sessions a few times a year. But you are right that speakers and room have to be physically corrected as much as possible before goin...
sonny rollins Dida - 'best living sax player'. Charlie's been dead 50 years.
Anyone compare Conrad Premier to Rogue? As a former owner of five CJ products I think you may not find the dynamic swings desired from the 17LS. I've owned three CJ pre-amps (PV4, PV5, and 16LS II) and found none of them very dynamic and even found the 16LS II a bit veiled and restricti...
Equalizers anyone? Warnerwh - I'll e-mail you my address. Looking forward to starting to get this room business dealt with! Thanks again.
Equalizers anyone? Warnerwh - What a wonderful offer! If you're serious I'll take you up on it and would be willing to let you try my stored-in-the-closet Creek OBH12 passive remote volume control. However, that Audio Reasearch is a damn good pre-amp but it might be...
Classic rock remasters.....24 bit/SACD Red Trumpet has the remastered Japanese Beatles CDs available and has for some time. I've got Sgt Pepper and Abbey Road and the sound quality is excellent. The CDs available in this country are not worth buying. Try redtrumpet.com.
Equalizers anyone? Thanks, Jeff. I am an SET devotee, have used this type of amp for almost 7 years, and use a passive 'pre-amp'. Can't get much more purist than this and I know exactly what you mean - I can more easily hear the problems the room creates with such a... |
