Improvement? As a tube gear owner for 23 years, I should remind you that these products require maintanence. As regards room tuning, Warren is absolutely right. It took me about 3 years to tune the room I'm in now (been here 16 years). One of the easiest ways ...
Speakers For Reggae Music Damn...I was gonna suggest the Superhemps.
Improvement? I had a 555 21 years ago. Found it a bit hard and sterile back then but it sure did drive my Acoustats. Probably same with the pre. I think many newer intrgateds will sound more musical than the Adcomn pair.
Mainstream reviews-why so few? I think Tyler advertises and promotes quite a bit - at least on Audiogon. His speakers sure are pretty, though.
Harbeth SHL5 vs Dynaudio Special 25 vs... Wes Philips at Stereophile reviewed the Dynaudio Focus 140 ($1,800.00) and (if you read carefully) you can see he actually likes the 140s better than the 25s he owns. I've heard the 25s at a store and also thought them a bit clinical. Very resolve...
Mainstream reviews-why so few? I think manufacturers have to agree to certain things like long term (almost open ended) loans to reviewers, no preview of review, keeping some distance after item has been set up and verified to be working properly, etc. I knew a speaker manufact...
A mistake spending too much on amplification? All the speakers I had when getting the Cardas & TG cables were pretty much 8 ohm loads. I've only used Cardas & TG with the 4 ohm Dynaudios. I understand the physics involved as regards cables and that is why I've tried different ones wit...
A mistake spending too much on amplification? The Dynaudio Focus 110s replaced $3,000.00 Harbeths which replaced $4,500.00 ProAcs. My room is quite small (11 x 13.5) and I now use a REL sub with very close attention to tuning. The Focuses (Foci?) were just to have something until I made deal ...
What speakers are you guys driving your BAT's with Umm...amps drive speakers, not the other way around.
A mistake spending too much on amplification? Not sure this is relevant, but I'm driving $1,400.00 monitor speakers with $11,000.00 worth of amp/pre-amp. Oh yeah, and $3,450.00 in wires. The system sounds superb and even though the speakers were supposed to be interim after selling my Harbeth...
First round of auditions disappointing One of the worst listening experiences I've ever had was Edge amps and pre-amp with Wisdom Audio tower speakers with Wisdom subs. Sound was etched, glarey, and irritating. Can't tell you what the music sounded like, don't remember hearing any musi...
Best Speaker cables for DYNAUDIO Focus 140 Might be hard to find but TG Audio makes an excellent and reasonably priced speaker cable. The owner of the company died last year so I'm not sure about current product, but if you can find used, check them out. It's what I like better than Cardas...
1 cup of Klipsch La Scala + 1 cup of Merlin VSM = A very taste-specific speaker. I haven't heard the Klipsh in probably 15 years but remember it being a tad artificial and hollow. Fast transients but not very good timbre. The Merlin is a much better speaker but is also taste-specific. Needs good ...
Help with Rosinante Speakers If anyone can get you the phone number for Millersound, you can most likely have the drivers repaired to proper specs.
How many pair of speakers do you own? Three...no, four. No, wait a minute. Does my wife's dresser top system count? |
