Harbeth Experts The C7-2s are a bit thick sounding. Wonder how the 3s compare. Interesting that the website claims for the new 3s address exactly the faults I heard in my C7s (which is why I sold them).
Any one have Tetras For more tweaks you could try Don Julio 1942 tequila and Jean Marc XO vodka. Very different treatments with different effects, both worthwhile. Guess it'd depend on your mood but they both work well with tubes.
Who is your overall favorite guitarist? G Clef - Dick Wagner of The Frost from Detroit in the late '60s?
Rogue Cronus too bright Sit as far into the room as you can, meaning, get your head away from the wall behind you as much as possible. The wall behind your head can cause all sorts of havoc by exacerbating that upper midrange, espcecially vocals, sax, piano, electric gui...
Seas Millennium Break-in time 1.5 min for speaker break-in sounds like hokum.
Seas Millennium Break-in time Ummm, I'm a little confused as to what in a tweeter would take 200 hours. I can understand (and have experienced) woofers taking quite a bit of time to break in.However, here's a good way to break in the entire speaker:Face them toward each other ...
Harbinger of the future of 2-channel? Hey, we're forgetting the true future of music reproduction - the cell phone ring tone! I hear them everywhere and it seems everyone I know has at least one. A guy at the gym has bunches of songs on his phone. I bet there are 20 times as many peop...
Harbinger of the future of 2-channel? Reubent is right. My nieces and nephews (8 of 'em, ages 12 through 24)don't even care about 2 channel. They all use I-Pods for music (you can barely call cheap earbuds 2 channel music) and, increasingly, cell phones for video. Not one of them care...
Merlin VSM or Revel Performa F52 My expereince with Merlins (just the TSM MXs) and 4 different amps - they need tubes with beauty and musicality, i.e. Air Tight, Joule Electra, and probably EAR 890 (my current amp). I've heard Revels once, some years ago, and also thought them co...
Need your help finding a pair of speakers......... Ummm, Ginas...What do you do for living?
"Reference" Preamps Joule Electra LA150 - musical, musical, musical!
Speaker Tilt Back benefits? Tilting them back changes the relative position of your ears to the drivers. Also either takes or puts your ears on the drivers' combined axis. If you seem to be sitting too low or too high (for tonal response relative to the drivers) then tilting...
The final Act in a study in preamps the ART 3 Not that I have any idea what's being talked about here...but I did at one time have a 16LSII and actually liked the soft clicking sound. Found that pre-amp too cloudy and uninvolving, though.
rowland 102 reviews? ice powered Go easy on these type of amps. I've only heard one and found it rather mechanical and uninvolving. The TAS article really seems to do a good job of getting at the heart of the technology, at least as it stands today. I could see that liking or dis...
Improvement? Oh yeah, I also 2nd the vote for Plinius as a quite musical SS option. |
