Is this normal?
If something makes you feel unsure about a purchase, don't do it.  You might have a perfect transaction if you went ahead, but as a general rule, if something doesn't seem right, pass.
Shunyata Denali Damn!
I agree 100% tinear, there is no one size fits all in audio.  Everybody has to find what works for their particular situation.
Vinyl...should I stay, or should I go?
One thing to realize though is that streaming doesn’t pay artists. It pays more than buying used LPs does.
Shunyata Denali Damn!
Has anyone compared the Denali to Audioquest Niagara conditioners? Michael Fremer did. He didn’t do a shootout or anything, but he did switch from Shunyata to Audioquest. He was very impressed by the Shunyata but eventually tried the AQ and decide...

Need advice on the BEST Android based tablet for TIDAL.
Maybe a little more detail would help.  You are going to stream from what, using Bluetooth, to your android tablet, which you will then connect to your DAC with an HDMI cable.  As fuzztone implied there may be better ways to get music to your DAC....
Deja Vu all over again
You're right tony,  The Stereophile review is talking about CD 1 of the 50th Anniversary set as being the best, no doubt there.
Derek and the Dominos 50th
I think the best sounding digital Layla is the MoFi SACD, but don’t expect a miracle, it’s the best of a not very good sounding bunch.  The CD layer should be the same mastering as the SACD.
Deja Vu all over again
George you should read that review again. According to Tom Fine the new CD sounds better than the previous two releases on CD. He says that this reissue, "kept the original dynamics and tonal qualities."  He says the 1994 reissue "is somewhat dyna...
Deja Vu all over again
Thanks for the review, tonywinga.  I 'm away from home right now but look forward to hearing this one when I get back.bigtwin,  They can't get something off the master tape that isn't there, but they can do a better job of getting what is on the m...
Tube Flavor
NOS power tubes are very expensive, so those are not an option for most people. You would always want to use the same brand of power tubes in all positions, but, depending on brand of gear, you sometimes can substitute a tube or two of another bra...
Springsteen and Clapton on their favorite, heh, band.
I wonder why Clapton never tried to join The Band after Robbie dropped out? It would have been an interesting experiment and might have given the rest of the guys a much higher profile. Maybe he felt they were too far gone or felt that Robbie was ...
Preamp tubes in power amps
See if you can get Viktor to talk to Upscale or get an email from him stating the 7DJ8 is not suitable for his preamp and pursue the matter with Upscale.  Did Upscale know that you planned to use the tubes in a BAT pre? Some manufacturers advise th...
Preamp tubes in power amps
I’m not familiar with your components, but you want to first upgrade the input tubes or voltage gain tubes, same thing, I think. As to whether the preamp or amp would have the most impact, I’d guess the preamp unless the tubes in your pre are not ...
Preamp tubes in power amps
I’m a tube rolling proponent , so I would say yes to both questions, but how much improvement you would hear or what brand of tubes would sound best to you, I can’t say. If you go to tube dealer Brent Jessee’s website: BRENT JESSEE RECORDING HOMEP...
