Your ONE all time favorite love song?
"I Love You" by the Climax Blues Band would get my vote, from a song appreciation perspective. There are some other great suggestions. My wife and I picked a bit more energetic song as "our song" - "Suck My Kiss" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. It w...
Opinions on the Digidesign MBOX Please
The Mbox is a smoking deal, especially when you consider the fact that it comes with Pro Tools LE. I have a Digi 002 system, and I couldn't be happier. Although I am not positive, I believe that you can use outboard D/A and A/D with the Mbox. I us...
Are vintage speakers really that good?
My Thiel CS3.6's are currently in for some repairs (still trying to figure out the culprit on that one), so I moved my recently acquired vintage AR-2ax's and Large Advents upstairs to fill in while the Thiels were down. Just for kicks, I stacked t...
Best affordable amp for Thiel CS3.6
Great response, Unsound! I very much appreciate your insight and assistance. While Pass and the Krell FPB series are both out of my (initial) price range new, I have seen deals on used amps from each that are within my realm of affordability. And ...
Best affordable amp for Thiel CS3.6
In case anyone has two or more cents that they'd like to toss in, I am presently considering (to some extent, at least) amps from all of the following manufacturers: Krell, McCormack, Theta, Bryston, Classe, and Pass. I might add one or two more t...
McCormack DNA-125/225 Upgrades
Correct me if I am wrong, Steve, but the reference above that the DNA-125, DNA-225, and DNA-500 "differ only in power output rating" is incorrect, is it not? I was under the impression that only the DNA-500 was the full balanced, push/pull differe...
2-channel + 3-channel amps, versus 5-channel amp
I have, indeed, begun to seriously look into amplifiers from Pass, as many fellow Audiogoners seem to have tried out the brands that I am looking at and settled on Pass. I had briefly looked into ATI, but hadn't thought about mating them with anot...
need some suggestions for Acoustics Blues
Some great suggestions so far, particularly anything that Willie Dixon played on, and any recording you can find of Son House. However, to make a less traditional suggestion, a good acoustic recording, with some blues aspects, is Eric Clapton Unpl...
subwooferability ???
Two subs that I am leaning towards seem fairly capable of reproducing both LFE and the bass from multi-channel music. The new Velodyne Digital Drive line (probably a DD-12), or Thiel SW1 are on my short list.Tom.
Best Pre/Pro for 2 channel
I picked up a Rotel RSP-1066 new for under $1,500, but I doubt that it, or any of the similarly priced products, will make you want to give up your Creek (although it certainly was better for 2-channel than I had expected). I have not heard that m...
which way to go in ht yet still have a good 2 ch
I found myself in the same boat, and ended up with a Rotel RSP-1066 for just under $1,500. I was able to audition it head to head against both of Krell's HT pre/pros, and the Rotel definitely acquitted itself well, especially considering the price...
Best affordable amp for Thiel CS3.6
Will do. It'll probably be a couple of weeks before I can get back down there, though.
Krell FPB 200, comments?
I came at this from the angle of looking for a good amp that would match my Thiel CS3.6's. My local Thiel dealer heavily recommends Krell (pretty much any model) with the CS3.6, and claims that Thiel themselves include Krell on their list of recom...
Best affordable amp for Thiel CS3.6
Classe and Levinson have definitely been added to my list. As for Spectral, yes, the folks at Progressive had good things to say about them, but because of having to use Spectral's preamp, and because I also use these speakers/amp(s) for home thea...
Theta or Bryston amps
I am in a similar boat, except that I have CS3.6's for my mains. Bryston and Theta are certainly on my short list. Two other amps that you might want to throw into the mix (if your dealer sells them) are Krell and McCormack (which would be the mos...
