A rocking tube amp & speaker combo? I recently heard some Audio Research gear with ProAc speakers, and that was a great combination. So much so, that I ordered a pair of ProAc Tablette Reference 8 Signatures on the spot. Still considering an Audio Research or similar integrated.Tom.
The Best Live album Some good suggestions, but I am surprised that no one has mentioned Eric Clapton, Unplugged. Great performance, and wonderful recording.Tom.
Your ''best kept secret'' speaker choice ? Most obscure, but very impressive, speakers that I have heard are Induction Dynamics. However, as good as they are, at their price point, I still feel that they can be bested by more well known names (such as Thiel, of whom I am a big fan).A name ...
Best integrated under $1500 with Phono I just picked up an Arcam FMJ A22 for $850, which I think is a steal. But if you are willing to consider tubes, an Audio Research CA50 might be nice. Or even a new Jolida integrated. You may have to go with external phono pres, though.Tom.
which woofer do you prefer I have a Velodyne DD-12 on order. In addition to being a very good, musical sub (which actually lets you adjust how "fast" it is with the servo), the advanced analysis and EQ potential seems like a very good addition. It really lets you find, and ...
Pre/Pro choice at around $1500 new... Yes, they are all what I would call mid-fi, but that's not a slam, just their price point. I'd go for the Rotel. It is quite good at its price point, and offers analog bypass for both multichannel input and two-channel. I own an RSP-1066, and I de...
is there any multi-chnnel power amps that can... The Theta Dreadnaught II is configurable however you want, with up to five total modules, of either 1x225x or 2x100w. So you could have two of the 1x225 modules (or better yet 3, and use one for center), and two or three of the 2x100 modules. And ...
Best midrange on SS amp ? Based upon what my ears tell me (and somewhat in contradiction to MF's recent review in Stereophile), Theta's Enterprise monoblocks (or any Theta amp, for that matter) have beautiful midrange for a SS amp. The Citadels are rumored to be even bette...
Best-front ported monitor speakers? Induction Dynamics S2's are unported, and seem to be very tolerant of location, even up against a wall or in a bookcase.Tom.
Your favorite recent discovery "What's the chances of Diana Krall and Bloodbath joining forces and making a record?"That's hilarious!Funny thing is, as diverse as my musical tastes are, I'd probably buy it!
Tube Amplifier Rec. for Proac 1.5 or D 15? Well, I found some information on the CA50, but unfortunately, it does not appear to have a remote. This would be a consideration, as my system will be across the room from me in my office, and I want to be able to mute or control volume without h...
Tube Amplifier Rec. for Proac 1.5 or D 15? Thanks for the heads up! I am not familiar with any of the particular Audio Research products, though I have certainly been impressed by everything that I have heard. Thanks again, Tom.
First pre/pro and hopefully last Good points, Cy. With that in mind, my criteria include analog pass through, and balanced outputs for at least the L/R, and preferably L/C/R channels. I don't have any local Meridian dealers, but I do have access to Krell, Theta and Moon Audio (as...
Cambridge Audio Azure vs. NAD c320bee, c740 How does the Azure 640C compare to its preceeding model? I just had a chance to audition the prior model Caimbridge integrated and CD player (not sure of model numbers on either), and was fairly impressed. But the dealer isn't offering much of a d...
Looking for recommendations for CD player That Rotel is somewhat of a shocker. I didn't get to hear one yet, but my local dealer just recommended it to me, and even stated that after hearing the Rotel, he had to sell his own personal Rega Planet, because the Rotel beat it handily! For wha... |
