The Midnight Effect - Who-How? "Shuts down at 23:00" Do you have any automatic lights that turn off at this time? Our driveway lights are on a timer as were our front door lights and even a Grunfos high pressure recirculating pump that delivers instantaneous hot water and 11PM...
The Midnight Effect - Who-How? You never state your source. If it is at all internet/cable provided, perhaps what is happening is on their end (e.g., a bunch of people log off around that time freeing up bandwidth).
Stereophile review of the $30,000 tekton speakers Probably too soon for them to post the on-line review. The cabinets are reported as slightly smaller with better bracing.
Component contributions to “sound stage” The recording is probably the most important followed by the speakers and their placement. My speakers are 7.5 feet apart center-to-center, but the Rhodes fills the entire "front of the house" (26 feet), and then some. Some on the JBL forum ha...
Stereophile review of the $30,000 tekton speakers Last month Stereophile tested the B&W 801 D4. The pair cost $50,000 and are nowhere near as smooth as the Moab BEs. I'm betting that they don't go nearly as loud either. And Stereophile even noted that these are used as mastering monitors. ...
A listening test of two power amps I can't read the flac files and don't care to load the software to enable it. Put them on YouTube for a bigger audience.
Stereophile review of the $30,000 tekton speakers Thanks guys. The Vette would go for about the price of 5 - 6 (2.5 - 3 pr) of the Moabs, new. The paint and bodywork was as much as a single Moab. 😉
Stereophile review of the $30,000 tekton speakers But if you want your speakers to match your Ferrari (i.e., grigio titanio), what are your other options? (Also, I had my '64 painted that color over a dozen years ago.)
Dog pissed on speaker Look at it this way..., you improved speakers now have a "whizzer" cone whereas before they didn't.
How important is the efficiency of a speaker to you? If you want the peaks to be at realistic levels, yeah, 150 watts is probably about right to get you to about 107 dB or maybe only a bit over 100 dB when you consider thermal compression.
How important is the efficiency of a speaker to you? You can also make a more efficient speaker by "tightening up the tolerances" (i.e., tighter fitting voice coil/gap) and increasing the number of windings within the same area (e.g., using flat-wound wire), without causing other problems. BTW, a l...
Do you trust your ears more than measurements? Too many bad recordings out there to just trust your ears. Case in point. So many recordings have a "grunge" (maybe digital?) to them due to whatever somewhere along the process of getting the original session to the final CD. Better recordi...
Scientifically proven improvement for sound clarity. Everything else beng equal, that's fairly obvious. But, they, like everyone else, have grown accustomed to the sound the brain perceives through their ear shape/size, and not that with some cup strapped up to them. I can certainly cup my hand...
Scientifically proven improvement for sound clarity. Is that the way you walk around in the real world? Do you think that by doing that, things will sound "natural" as they do in the real world?
Best HIFI Stores LA/Orange Pick up the current issue of Stereophile Magazine where they review the Moab Be ($30K/pr) and decide for yourself. BTW, their speakers are offered in the same color as my ’64 Corvette, Ferrari, grigio titanio. |
