Jolida JD-9 Upgrade @armstrod Burson V5i sounds interesting. Does the JD-9 take single or dual version? Thanks
Jolida JD-9 Upgrade Can’t comment on wear and tear. I updated my JD-9 with new V-Caps ODAM, Tele tubes, Burr Brown OPAMPS, damping foam pads and transformer shield. Made a considerable improvement after cap break in. Sad part is that I stream 95% of my listening. ...
Anyone else using slugs instead of fuses? Comments on metals used and sound please @lcherepkai Neurosis 🤣 that it is! Yes I told Mark I was interested in his new Rhodium sluggo. Not sure if the pigtail cord or box causes a slight change. Might be break-in or just me. Some folks feel the silver is a little extended on the edg...
Swiss Digital Fuse Box - "What headroom sounds like" @jmfinney i have been using the Swiss fuse box with Golden State Silver 4ga on my Supratek tube preamp for 2 days. I find it definitely sounds the best (over 100% copper and copper gold immersion) and I have not experienced distortion. Sounds fa...
Anyone else using slugs instead of fuses? Comments on metals used and sound please @lcherepkai Ok here’s my update on initial results with the Swiss fuse box on my Supratek Cab preamp. Great quality product. Sound is excellent but just a tad less satisfying than when playing Sluggo’s without the protection. Just a little softe...
Anyone else using slugs instead of fuses? Comments on metals used and sound please @lcherepkai my speakers aren’t bi-amped they have the 1200w class D subs built into the towers. Sound-wise: Tighter, clearer bass, slightly more volume, improved soundstage depth and more defined hi’s without brightness. Just overall improvemen...
Anyone else using slugs instead of fuses? Comments on metals used and sound please @lcherepkai added silver slugs to my GE Tritan towers with active subs. Another Wow. Really appreciate you suggesting the silver slugs, they really make a difference. I also ordered a Swiss fusebox for extra protection on my Supratek preamp an...
What is meant exactly by the description 'more musical'? Enlightening discussion on “Musical” in terms of amplifiers 🤔. Yikes…if I could only figure out Liquid, Bloom, Veiled, and Rolled-off😳
Have you asked yourself this question? Yes all the time. There is an emotional attachment to my years growing up with lp’s.. Already sold all my CD’s, CD transport and most of my lp’s. Only getting a few dollars each. Problem is for the few hundred dollars I would get for my turnta...
Supratek Owners Thread Very nice to hear another happy Supratek owner. Its the best stereo system decision I have made. I am blown away how good my speakers sound. I had no idea they had it in them. 🤣 My wife walked by my chrome Cabernet and said “That is a really ...
Anyone else using slugs instead of fuses? Comments on metals used and sound please Replaced 4 components with silver slugs. Amp, pre, DAC, FOZ sound expander and all I can say is WOW! Not minor. Better than tube rolling or power cord upgrades. Time to consider some additional protection options. 🤔
Anyone else using slugs instead of fuses? Comments on metals used and sound please @tweak1 yes I use a vise with pads to hold the rod, cut off with a hand grinder with a thin metal cut off disc. I finish the ends with a hand held knife sharpening belt sander with 220 grit. A fine blade hacksaw and fine file will work as well.
Anyone else using slugs instead of fuses? Comments on metals used and sound please @tweak1 here’s the link to the GSS silver rod sets. https://www.goldenstatesilver.com/products/4-gauge-rod-sets I do finish the ends to smooth out the roughness once cut with my knife sharpener sanding belt. I don’t spend alot of effort on the e...
Anyone else using slugs instead of fuses? Comments on metals used and sound please @lcherepkai my silver 4 ga silver rods from Golden Gate Silver arrived today. Cut to 20 mm and replaced my copper slug's. The silver sound excellent. More clarity and separation of instruments. The copper sounds very good but I would recommend s...
Revisiting Chinese Knockoff Cables @tweak1 Thanks…wow aren’t those Silver WW cables $3500+. So interesting how system dependent cables and tweaks can be. Maybe having several tube components make an impact on these IC’s warmth sound. Who knows just very happy the way they sound! |
