Turntable Speed This is quite a good app for iPhone and Android to check your turntable speed. Simply lay your smartphone on the platter. Start the turntable and get a reading:https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.apkossa.rpmeter&hl=en_IE&gl=US
Tonearms that work well with better Koetsu stone body cartridges +1 for FR 64 S and r 64 Fx. My Koetsu Coralstone sings in both of them.
Should I replace Denon DL-103R with Dynavector DRT-XV1 mounted A 10x more expensive cartridge won`t give you 10x better sound, but I don`t doubt for a second that you will hear an improvement. Your SME IV arm should easily take the upgrade, it is a very good arm IMO.I have several DL 103s and they are very go...
Biggest bang for the buck in retipping a new Denton DL103R SoundSmith will fit your DL 103 R with a ruby cantilever and fineline stylus for less than that. An other Denon retipper is a guy with the nick Needlestein. Google it. I am actually listening to one of his DL 103 retips right now. It will take you...
How old is your cartridge? I have several cartridges that are between 35 and 40 years old:1) Kondo AN Io ii2) Fidelity Research Mc-443) Fidelity Research Mc-1 Mk.3.4) Accuphase AC-1They all still sound good.
How Long Did It Take You To Build Your Dream Setup? 40+ years is what it `s taken me. And I `m not sure that i am done yet. What I do know is that the river of new and changing components has turned into a trickle. I have hardly changed anything in my setup in the last two years.
Avid hifi phono stages I had an Avid Pulsare I which was rebuilt by Avid to a Mk. II. A great phono for the price, IMO, though it was bettered both in soundstaging and dynamics by my Manley Steelhead.
Fidelity Research Cartridges? A short update on the FR Mc 44: For the price, this is a real keeper! Mounted in a FR 121 headshell in a FR 64 Fx arm, it sounds just great, and much better than a similarly priced Denon DL103 R. A good, capable and workmanlike MC.
Phono stage for 0.2mv cartridge? @tooblue Was the cartridge loading the same for all three phono stages? If not, that might explain what you were hearing.
Phono stage for 0.2mv cartridge? You should maybe consider the EAT e-glo. Tubed, and a massive 76 dB of gain.
Fidelity Research Cartridges? Thanks very much for the information, appreciate it! Regards tkr
Manley Chinook - chronic issues tkr, Are you sure your problem was like that described by the OP? Because his problem does not at all sound as simple as a grounding problem really is. What he describes seems most likely due to a bad solder joint or a defective diode or transisto...
Manley Chinook - chronic issues Check your earthing connections. I had a similar problem with my Manley Steelhead, and the solution was to connect everything really tightly to one single earthing point.
Your opinions about KOETSU URUSHI BLUE or VERMILLION tkr, it is that euphoric quality that some of us love about the Koetsu's. You would have to add a lot of weight to the SME V to get the bass right.I use my Koetsu for string quartets and the like not for R+R and rarely for Jazz. The other cartridg...
Your opinions about KOETSU URUSHI BLUE or VERMILLION I have never heard the Vermillion, but have owned the Sky Blue. The Sky Blue had good dynamics and real bass "slam", but was a bit too euphonic for my taste, mounted in an SME V. |
