Replace pwr cord w/IEC socket on vintage gear?
I installed an IEC jack and replaced some wiring on a Harman Kardon amp I got off ebay. It was a nice little project and the results were well worth the hour it took. Go for it.
Retro system Sony CD Player....champagne/wood?
Check the Vintage Knob web site for detailed info on these older Sony pieces. A great source.
can i improve my system with a better cd player?
Sure thing. Buy a modest vinyl rig and you'll hear the difference vinyl brings to the plate. I've a so called 'hi end cd player'. I've also got 6 turntables. End of discussion.Coltrane1That ain't gonna help with his shiny discs, now is it?
Have you donated yet?
My daughter did the vinyl thing a couple years ago. She thought it was cool to spin her lps...for about six months. After the fad died her turntable went back where it came from, ebay. While it's cool to be cool, and dabbling in the latest fad is ...
Need a Speaker Recommendation
A consensus is building here. A pair of used Vandersteen 1Cs is one of the best bargains out there. I've owned them twice and loved them both times.
Can you compare NAD C370 with Portal Panache Int.
I owned the NAD C352 shortly after the Portal Panache. Absolutely loved the Portal, but could not live without remote control. Thought the NAD was very good for the money, except for the course volume control via remote. If remote is of no concern...
Anyone compared NAD and Cambridge Intergrateds?
As a Meadowlark Kestrel owner for years I say go NAD. a few years ago I replaced a Classe CAP-151 with a NAD C352. The Nad was only temporary as it should have been a step down, but I preferred the Nad. About a year later I found a good deal on a ...
Why Not Return the Favor?

DO NOT INSERT A 5 AMP FUSE WHERE A .5 AMP FUSE IS CALLED FOR.This needs to be said in a loud voice as it could be dangerous.
2ce sig ii tilt and listening height
You'll need to experiment to find the proper tilt angle for your listening height and distance from the speakers. I set my 2CE sigs up with very little tilt after noticing they sounded best when I was standing at the listening position. It took a ...
Your best chair you listen to your gear
Ikea's Poang is a good, inexpensive chair for listening. I use an extra cushion to get a little extra height and make sure my ears are above the seat back. As stated in the first response, this is critical for a listening chair. IMO
840C as a DAC. What do I need
Get one of these and plug it in to one of your amp's unused inputs. Not the phono input, as stated above. If your intention is to have an easy way for your wife to listen to her ipod on your system, this is it.
I need your expert opinions
I owned the Nak CA5 (very minimalist) as well as the Yamaha C85. The Nak was an outstanding piece while the Yamaha was adequate. The Yamaha did have a remote though.
Warm CD player for older CDs with digital glare?
Watch for a Resolution Audio CD50 to come up for sale. When you see one don't hesitate as they usually sell pretty quick. Another option would be a Bel Canto Dac2. The two smoothest sounding digital products I've heard.
