I just wanted to play a record
You didn't mention his reaction to the music. Was he impressed by the music from your sophisticated system?Good one Viridian.
Has iTunes, etc. impacted your listening habits?
Not mine but every other person in my house. Wife and two daughters listen almost exclusively to ipod (some through speaker system) or car stereo. One of these days I'll get one as they laugh at me if when we travel and I carry my discman.
CD Buying Guide???
I have a remastered copy of "Tea For the Tillerman." Man that music brings back the memories. Unfortunately, the cd is overly bright on most cuts, IMO.
Vinyl Outselling CD
Okay, so teens are buying vinyl. My daughter did this same thing two years ago. She went to a "cool" section of town and picked up some lps. I set up a tt for her and she was cool, she was in heaven for a month or so. Where are those lps now? In t...
Vinyl Outselling CD
Not taking sides in the debate as to which is better but until WalMart, Best Buy and the rest of the big box stores start selling vinyl, lps won't make a dent in real sales. As far as the real world is concerned lps are dead, CDs are dying, SACD an...
Do your music genre choices change w/ the seasons?
More rock and especially jam bands as the season warms up. Also, my wife travels frequently; the music gets louder when she's out of town.
Is analog & vinyl anoying? Is it worht it.
Thanks Tvad, I was going to respond to Pauly's ignorant point of view but you go there first. My daughter listens almost exclusively to music on her ipod or car radio. While she isn't an audiophile by any stretch, to suggest she isn't a music love...
What equipment do you most regret parting with??
The only piece o equipment I regret selling was my Portal Panache. If that thing had a remote control I'd be listening to it now. Cmon Mr. Abrams.
amp for Eminent technology LFT-8As
I'll tel you an amp to stay away from. The Anthem MCA-20. I was using a Portal Panache 100 watt integrated with my LFT-8As and went looking for more power. I got a good deal on the Anthem (200 watts) but it couldn't touch the sonics of the Portal.
Is analog & vinyl anoying? Is it worht it.
Let me start by recommending a look at Rauliruegas' system. Now that's vinyl. For me though, I sold off most of my lps a couple of years ago because we moved and it was pointed out to me that the lps had been in the closet untouched for 12 years. ...

My Sony DVP-9000es is sick, please help
Before anyone responds -- The player is working fine now. I unplugged it for 30 minutes and when I plugged it back in it worked fine.
Upgrade advice needed
Another vot for better speakers. There is a large selection of speakers in the Studio 20's price range. A little research and some listening would be ideal. Good luck and enjoy the hunt.
Where did the sound go?
Had a very similar experience when I moved my system into a family room with cheap wood paneling on the walls. Three of the walls were inside walls with no insulation. My system never sounded so lifeless. I moved it back.
One speaker is louder than the other
Are you sure both drivers in the low volume speaker are functioning (ear next to driver with low volume music. I had a similar problem and one tweeter was blown.
