American made Subwoofer
Went up in the attic. My box says "Made in USA" but my sub is a couple of years old. Although I don't think of myself as xenophobic, I prefer to buy US made products if possible also. With the exception of my Oppo and Proac speakers, my system is ...
American made Subwoofer
I was set on the James EMB until I found out they are made in China. Apparently their other speakers are made in America, not their subs.Well Sedona that made me get out a flash light and check the back of my EMB-1000. No country of origin label t...
American made Subwoofer
The EMB series subwoofers from James Loudspeakers are manufactured in the U.S. Nice subs for the price James

How to evaluate amps that are not broken in?
Whoaru99, very interesting point. I was thinking the same thing as I was reading the responses. I can imagine a situation where a component sounds wonderful and a change may not be perceived as better. Hmmm. The only new component I've purchased la...
an amp without "electronic" sound
Most of the recommendations you'll get are going to be tubes. But class D amps did this for me. The Bel Canto eVo series in particular. I find the sound to be natural and non-fatiguing.There are many makers out there now so I suggest you give one ...
Anyone ever refoam Bose 901's?
Actually I had a pair of 901s in the 80s. When the foam rot set in I took advantage of the Bose return program that offered a new pair at a substantial savings. I then sold the new pair without opening the boxes.

Your wife brought them home? You are a lucky man!
HELP
I owned the NAD C-352 while waiting for an amp and thought the 352 had a very warm, pleasing sound. Expect the 372 would have a similar nature with more oomph.
The most haunting music you ever heard?
I remember Dory Previn. A couple of years ago I sold most of my lps. Some were harder to part with than others and "Mythical Kings and Iguanas" was a sentimental favorite that was really hard to let go.
Good Country recordings
Most of Lyle Lovett's recordings are audiophile quality. "Joshua Judges Ruth" is wonderful, both artistically and sonically. Also, the new Drive By Truckers album is worth a listen.
Reliability of tubes/ Belles 150A vs Jolida 801A?
The fact is, I'm committed to buying the amp and pre-amp new from a small local dealer who has spent alot of time advising me, who has brought gear out to my house, etc.I respect that decision.
Totem Arro or Vandersteen 1C or Quad 12L.
I have owned the Vandy 1Cs and feel they are one of the absolute best bargains on the used market. Never owned but have listened to the Arros. They were nice but didn't disappear the way the 1Cs do.
Reliability of tubes/ Belles 150A vs Jolida 801A?
By all means listen and let your ears decide. But as to the question concerning reliability, if you followed the threads in this forum and used them as a reference, the answer is that tube amps are less reliable. There are consistently more questi...
Tweeter height
Proper tweeter height on some speakers can make an amazing difference. I was using a pair of Silverline Audio SR-11s on a pair of 24 inch stands and they were sounding nice enough but I noticed if I slumped down to a point where my ears were at th...
