Power Consumption idle It sure can, just try and touch a 75 watt incandescent light bulb and see how long you can hold on!
Most "Non-Digital" Sounding CDP Muse Model Nine Signature.
Opinion of Avalon Speakers or Alternataives My experience with Avalons, albeit short, was at an audio show. They were connected to some very high quality equipment, however, they sounded quite dry and boring. Your mileage may vary.
rubber feet for B&W DM305 speakers? NO. Use spikes.
Which is the best preamp for my amps. I would recommend you try all of them and not rely on anyone's opinion; you may regret it if you do.
Please one last request... The Muse Model Eight is IMHO, the best of the bunch. Never had a problem in my two+ years of use with a Model 296 DAC.
More bang for the buck? Get the 120s.
Which speakers do you like in the $5K price range? Legacy Focus 20/20.
Why go with active preamp? In my experience, an active preamp offers more flexibility and better dynamics to the music. Running passive can sometimes rob the music of its "liveness."
Kharma Reference Monitors Perhaps you have read the review on these loudspeakers in TAS Issue 140 for some suggestions on possible ancillary equipment to use with these. Also, perhaps, you should consider the Meridian Models 800/861 Reference digital combo to round out you...
Who uses long interconnect like in dealers? I do. Two 6 meter pairs from preamp to amp. Good question (your 2nd to last one). I have one 6 meter pair of Discovery Signature IC if you are interested.
What does "Sounds too Hifi" mean??? When I use it it means: a. Not acoustically natural as the way live music sounds b. Too "electronic" sounding (tizzy or boomy sounding) c. Fatiguing to listen to for long periods of time.
Can You Go From Good To Dazzling Sure can. I did with Analysis Plus Solo Crystal Oval 8.
VPI SDS question I would highly suggest you spend your money on installing a dedicated 20 amp line to your audio room. I believe you would get better results than crowding your one line with all that load. |
