Disconnect the woofer
There would not be any energy consumed, since there is no driver to drive.
Questions about the McIntosh C2300
Here is a link to the owners manual off of the McIntosh website. I find that reading the owners manual answers a lot of questions. This is a nice peice and I almost purchased one because of the way it would intergrate with my MX135 but went anothe...
Dump run on McIntosh MC402?
I have a 402 and am very happy with it. I had a 352 that i traded in on it and I noticed about 18 months ago there were a bunch of 352's for sale here. Maybe with mcintosh giving dealers a 40% price break they are about to come out with a new amp.
Where can one purchase lead shot for speakers?
Check you local sporting goods store. They will sell it for those who re-load shotgun shells. It usually comes in 20# bags. Have fun as the vacuum cleaner doesn't do well picking up dense little balls. Another though is look at box's of BB's for B...
Best way to store a cart
I would say add a dessicant pack before you vacuum seal it.
SLP-05, REF3, LS26, Mac C2300
As a long time McIntosh guy I recently decided to add a tube pre-amp to my combo HT/2ch system. I wanted "unity gain" and considered the C2300 and if budget permitted the C500. I was told by a number of Mcintosh owners, dealers, etc., that the C22...
Best Outer Sleeves for LPs
Second on the SLP3 from bagsunlimited. Very durable and not had one split at the seam.
Wilson Sophia 2 vs Revel Salon2--fair comparison?
I have heard both and though I heard the Revels when they were new. I also at the same dealer have heard the Sophiasmore recently. I own Revel F32's and the one thing that I can say between Wilson and Revel that the Wilsons seem more musical where...
Quality speakers that don't need tons of power
Take a look at Zu Audio. I had a chance to hear some the other day and although they weren't broken in yet I was impressed with the quality of what I heard.
sand versus shot in speaker stands
Do a search there used to be a product that was similar to lead and made for filling speaker stands. It was odd shapes and claimed to have the ability to interlock and pack as a more dense mass. Maybe someone like Musicdirect, etc would have a clu...
Input /output caps
I have been using them (Cardas caps) on my system for years. I won't tell you that I hear any difference, but I don't seem to have any EMI-RFI issues either. But one of the benefits that I like is the clean jacks. No dust is getting in through the...
Need help in picking a 300w 7channel amp.
You might look at the MC207 from Mcintosh. I can tell you from experience that many companys rate their amps as having more power than they really deliver. The Mc has 200 (4 or 8 ohm)per channel which I realize is 100 shy of your indicated 300.But...
What makes a record collection "great"?
Who Cares? I buy music I like and I listen to it with no concern of anyone's opinion but mine. It's my sandbox, my rules.
SACD vs RBCD players
I would say if you don't have any SACD's now, invest in the better redbook player. I have some SACD's and feel obligated that any player I buy has to SACD compatiable. Avoid the hassles of looking for SACD titles that you want.
Ayre C-5xe gone wonky
That's service! Or better said that's Ayre!
