Where is my digital problem: taste, vinyl v. digital, DAC, realities, etc?
Sounds like a good R-2-R/ladder/multi-bit dac is out there, somewhere...calling your name...
Fuse upgrades? -- 6.3 amp 250v 5X20mm fast blow fuses
The better fuses from the mentioned companies have beryllium copper end cap available, IIRC. Brass is the second down on the preferred ’cheapies’ list. so,silver plated beryllium copper or what is normally available: tin plated beryllium copper en...
Fuse upgrades? -- 6.3 amp 250v 5X20mm fast blow fuses
"Nickel-Plated Brass Endcaps" that part you do NOT want. You want silver plated brass. One can hear the nickel, in a good system. The McCormack is one of those ’good systems’. When you get the error message, that exact one, you can just reload the...
Fuse upgrades? -- 6.3 amp 250v 5X20mm fast blow fuses
The problem is usually that the fuses (any fuse) cannot be easily made to complete their required job successfully and at the same time handle large transient functions. No one has done it so far, not any ’audiophile’ fuse, either, unless they ski...
Many seem to be talking about their last system .
It’s cyclic. They’ll get it back. but probably not until most of us are gone. In the meantime, Digital and it’s problems are misrepresenting music, and that is part of the problem. Subtle to the conscious mind but the lack of some important aspect...
Where do you look for rare records and pressings ?
Most of us that have collections built over decades have some simple rules, like buy it where you can... and never pass up the one you want, as you may never see it again. There is no easy to flip switch that makes for ease in getting to a bigger c...
Fuse upgrades? -- 6.3 amp 250v 5X20mm fast blow fuses
30k fuses, eh? You’re makin’ me think I should go back and finally finish the fuse tech I was working on (tinkering with, off and on) for nearly a decade, and finally bring it to market.

Cooper-bussmann (USA), LittleFuse(USA), Schurter(Germany) ....and the the favorite of the Japanese audio business for over 50 years, SOC of Japan. look for long lag fuses from any of those companies, and you'll be part way to the higher end audio ...
No one actually knows how to lculate what speaker cable they need
Confident and self assured cables meandering with a notable strut is apparently a good thing. (sorry...)
Using a Studio EQ for Vinyl playback
Less equals more sound quality ....and more hardware equals less sound quality. Every wire, connector, cable, resistor, capacitor, inductor and so on - degrades sound quality. Less is more. and the less it is in the way of parts and more those lim...
Doug Schroeder Method, Double ic
I’d personally say to go from cd or source, to preamp. This way the loading is stable and assured, instead of impedance and load both shifting every time you change the potentiometer level. And, to be entering into a power amp directly where full ...
Op amp Rolling?
LT1028 can do well in a RIAA eq stage. Depends on the application. OPA627 can do better in a preamp or DAC. And a ton of other results in other scenarios. At the low end of the price scale in total expenditure for gear, upgrading op amps is genera...
Feedback in solid state amp
Erik, he did hit the nail on the head, as explained by the communique by Nelson. Which part of the distortion is important to human hearing? engineering weighting does not take any of this into account, which is why it does not correlate to what p...
Does this image give you claustrophobia?
Attempting to communicate all this stuff about our emotions (music is about emotions, relatively speaking) via the written word only - is bound to go sideways. Almost every time. We ’get’ only 10% of the communication package, when we read the wri...
New TEO Audio ICs, who has them?
Someone asked about ’balanced’ cables, and this is the reply I gave. I made a spelling mistake in my reply, tried to erase it and add it in again...and the audiogon system erased the question they asked as well! So I can’t reply.... I’d like to an...
