Do you think you need a subwoofer?
As full integration of subwoofers is quite difficult and because most subwoofers cannot keep up with many midrange drivers and tweeters, I would seek to avoid them. But because these same problems bedevil full range speaker designers, there is no ...
205D tubes.
I once heard an old WE205 amp with two of these running an Altec 604 at a VASAC meeting in Silverdale. It was the most immediate and uncolored sound I have ever heard. If I could have bought two, I would have them now. The WE tube is, however, imp...
Daruma's...how to use them properly?
I don't have Darumas, but I would never consider slowing up the response of my Rollerballs or Aurios.
Why does Denon 3910 default to PCM for sacds?
Again for those using the Denon 3910 as a stereo source, I can now confidently state that when you make the change of Source Direct to ON means that you have to wait again for break-in. I guess this is the dsd dac. After better than a week in the ...
Why does Denon 3910 default to PCM for sacds?
Tvad, I think that setting Source Direct ON you have true DSD for sacds and pcm for everything else, but I think this may have implications to MCh bass management. I don't think it affects how stereo cds, hdcds, dads, or dvdas sound.Rudd, I at lea...
Why does Denon 3910 default to PCM for sacds?
No, Meisterkleef, in 2 channel also.
Why does Denon 3910 default to PCM for sacds?
Rex, I was not really implying a conspiracy and fully agree that Bass Management is the issue. I do think it is too bad, however, that this is not prominently discussed in the manual, as it has a big impact on the sacd sound.
Acapella LaCampanella ?
I just noticed this thread. If anyone is interested, I have had the LaCampenellas for four months now. While I grant that my little Reimyo PAT777 with its 8 watts is deficient on a 92 db speaker, I love the sound I am getting. There is no sense wi...
ELP laser turntable - any comments?
Opalchip, I guess my behavior would suggest I entirely agree with you, but I did go back several time at CES2004 to listen to it. After perfecting the concept but failing in quality control, it is too bad the company basically walks away from purc...
Daisy chaining Line Conditioners
At one time I had the Equi=Tech Q1.5, the Walker Velocitor, the Reimyo filter, the Sound Application Line Stage, and the Loricraft power supply. I tried many different combinations. Since the Walker and the Reimyo both are Quantum based and the Lo...
Denon 3910 tube comparisons
I second 84audio. I have had many players, I have found the Exemplar 3910 with the opamp mods that are now included to be the best. I have heard the APL at CES and hope to hear it here soon. The Exemplar has been better than the dCS, Esoteric, and...
Equipment Set-up Recommendations?
Eldartford, I would love to have these units to try under my turntable.
Equipment Set-up Recommendations?
Eldartford, do you have a Halcyonics?
Equipment Set-up Recommendations?
Eldartford, the Minus K is a controlled spring device using no air pressure nor electricity.
Equipment Set-up Recommendations?
Userid, of course the Vibraplane is made by an industrial isolation company. So is the Halcyonics platform recently shown at the Stereophile show. I guess what is needed is a shootout although I never trust others ears.I did go to the Minus K BM-1...
