Sacd/dvd-a, The Hype Is Dead, For Me At Least...
Guidocorona, why is this directed to me? I am the one suggesting that the demise of sacd is greatly exaggerated?

Ben, I must admit that I am at a loss in understanding your comments. How do you know if this thread was posted for audio fans for audio fans? And how is this relevant? Why would I know why you have a "dead format" section, and does this contradic...

Ben, I certainly concede that you never said sacd was dead, but you did say, "The main point of many of these posts is that SACD is not a clear improvement for many. People who own SOTA equipment really required the levels below to support the for...

Ben, I think there is a major difference between many being disappointed and, as you say, sacd being dead. Many, myself included, were greatly disappointed by redbook. This format has greatly improved in the last four years.Audio-girl, I think wha...
Sacd/dvd-a, The Hype Is Dead, For Me At Least...
Ben, I don't know why anyone needs to post that sacd has not taken off as some had hoped. If it is to discourage some from taking the plunge, it is unwarranted. I buy too many of the sacds that are released each month and would not be without a un...
beveridge speakers are coming back
Like everything else I had a pair. They imaged better than the Infinity ServoStatics and KLH 9s, but they were less dynamic. They are a real pain to set up. Since I am totally into horns once again, I would have no interest in the Beveridges.
Single-Ended or Balanced Digital Question
I remember once doing extensive comparisons of balanced and unbalanced feeds between my transport and dac. This was before I got into universal players and sacd. I concluded that I could hear a slight difference but not one that would cause me to ...
Fake plants behind speakers a good idea?
I once had real plants around my left speaker. A friend brought a Crown RTA over. When I looked at the output, all I saw was a comb filter effect. I said what is this? He said let us remove the plants. Afterwards, there were still problems, but th...

An average sacd sounds better than an average cd. I have about 500 sacds and in many instances I have the same recording in both. Apart from XRCD24s and HDCDs, redbook lacks the completeness of sacd. You have less of the feeling of being present a...
Best solid state pre-amp below US $ 10.000,00 ??
I know, I sound like a broken record, but those who have paid attention have repeatedly thanked me. I am soon going for a months vacation to Alaska. No H-Cats there.
Best solid state pre-amp below US $ 10.000,00 ??
I had a friend who owned a Placette and thought it was good. Until he heard the H-Cat. The Placette is gone.Like other passive units, the Placette has a purity to it. I do think the Topdog was a better sounding passive unit. For me, however, the l...

Because he is ego invested in his designs. How many instances have you heard where you are told to directly plug into the wall or only use X cables, etc. He can always say, that this is the way he hears it. Certainly you can see in this thread tha...

Teajay, AA's response is typical. Don't believe it unless you try it.
Question about Denon 2900 vs. 3910
TAS reviews are dated when they come out. The 5910's video puts all others to shame including all earlier and continuing Denon units. I worry about having a 5910 around since its video is so good that I might be tempted to look into HT even though...
Best solid state pre-amp below US $ 10.000,00 ??
Frankpiet, I guess you should expect such greatly divergent views given the broad nature of your request. I think that some of the units recommended here are second rate, at least in my system. What it really comes down to is great diversity of ta...
