OPPO BDP95 anybody have any comments yet?
Wildoats, I think you are right about the Sabre chips. But several of us prefer the Crystal chips.
What does one purchase after owning horns?
Lrsky, having owned the big Sound Labs and many other electrostats, I don't question that they have 'impressive' dynamics but not the speed of horns, especially compression driver horns.I should also say that all horn systems lack horn bass system...

Macrojack, what horns do you have? Be happy, in 40 plus years in audio, I have had eight different horn systems, but not now. I still love their speed and efficiency.
OPPO BDP95 anybody have any comments yet?
Dob, I play many sacds, but even cds sound better in my opinion, with the Crystal chips. I have never understood why many preferred the SE or the 95. I should say that I have limited experience with unmodified 83s, 83 SEs, 93s, or 95s. I have Exem...
What does one purchase after owning horns?
Macrojack, I have read nothing by Weseixas, but certainly horns can have vibration issues, as do all speaker, but of course the horns are a big radiation area. In my experience a tractrix horn sounds best. How I wish I could have horn performance ...

Mapman, let me be the first you tell if you find the field coil Walsh.Johnk, I have never heard either a DIY horn system, nor one that was well integrated even in what I would call a large room. Horns don't have a bad reputation with me as they al...

Renmeister, I just noticed this thread. I have been at audio for 40 plus years. I repeatedly tried horns beginning with Klipsch corner horns, then electrostats, then dynamic drivers, then electrostats, then horns, including the Duos and Trios, the...
Tidal Speakers owners
Maceear, I guess it was three Rocky Mountain Audio Fests ago, that I heard a demonstration of the Synergistic Research ARTs. They merely played music and then took the five active units off the walls and replayed the music. The image, resolution, ...

Macceear, since member Wiebe has not added to this, can you please tell us more about the Zilplex?
Is Direct Drive Really Better?
In my last post I had the Shindo Labs turntable, arm, and cartridge. This, of course, was the remodeled Garrard 301 and a rim drive. I now have a Bergman SIndre turntable and arm with the Ortofon A-90 cartridge. It is a belt drive. They sound diff...
The best speaker you ever heard?
Dayglow, the 7s sound unlike the 5As and are clearly better.
The best speaker you ever heard?
Aronsss, I have known Richard Vandersteen since the '70s. I ran into him at the 2010 CES, and he said that I needed to go hear the 7s. This year, I had a long talk with him. He said that in the 7's he had put his cost no object best he knew of in ...
Your feelings on vintage audio.
Corazon, Sorry, I did not complete what I sought to say. I have found several manufacturers of excellent ss equipment. The Ypsilon and Bridge Audio equipment is certainly exemplary, but solid state no longer sounds as my Crown gear used to sound. ...
