Doobie Brothers' drummer John Hartman dead at 72. 72 is young by today's standards. Very unfortunate. I have Doobies first 3 LP's. Tribute spin this weekend.
Turntables "That's not a P10. It's an RP-10 - different arm, etc. I failed to point that out in my post. Nevertheless, If it can be had for $4500 or less, good buy. "P8 will beat this one I believe." sokogear-For the cash outlay with the cart, whatever" i...
Turntables Here's the P10 suggestion I mentioned. Offer $4500, and you have ready to go table. If you don't already own a decent phonostage, find a used $3-5k used piece for half and you will have a SOLID setup for reasonable cash outlay.
Turntables "This" vs "that" is a futile pissing contest. One of the "best" cart brands- Soundsmith, used VPI to demonstrate their fine carts, INCLUDING their top tier Strain Gauge setup on those crappy unipivots. The Soundsmith bookshelves and VPI's I hea...
Blue Note Tone Poet Series alexburger-Nice to hear the Joe Pass cuts. Longtime fan of Joe. Back in the late 70's as a young student of the instrument, I had the privilege to sit 20 feet away, and study his every move at the local college with my instructor. I have many Pab...
GoldenEar Triton Reference for a large room... Agoners- Report the questionable posts by the obvious. I did. Some dealers are simply have no shame.
Speakers If you're a DIY type, pulling lowest driver shouldn't be too much trouble. Looks like a metal ring glued to the outer rim of the speaker, hiding the screws.
Replace 2M Black or new phono? You are playing with a level of gear where upgrades are limited by everything else in the setup. Start from scratch, open your wallet much wider. Other than that, trying a LOMC can give a markedly different experience your ears may prefer. AT O...
Cable design is a lot like creating a pizza A dash of pepperoncino if sound is too dark. Use sparingly if heartburn is a concern.
Who Remembers the DAK Catalog? Brings back memories... An early pioneer of cataloged imported MIC junk.
Steely Dan Catalog on UHQR Vinyl Will this finally bring "Katy Lied" up to SQ approval of Donald Fagan?
Dr. Feickert Turntable fjn04- IMO, difficult to say "X" is "best" at the $4K PP. As you mention, the others will compete with it. You can nitpick every choice. I should have said in the initial post-I think it' a solid buy with the OL arm.
Any fans of Ken Peplowski here? I became aware of Ken through the local Jazz radio station here in LA (KCRW) maybe 20 or so years ago. Solid player, active player, young but old enough (in relative terms) to have played with some heavyweights in his earlier years.
Dr. Feickert Turntable Max out the arm choice if you can. I heard it with the OL arm. I thought it was competitive with all the other choices in its price point. You're y aware the phono stage will make or break your investment?
Steely Dan Catalog on UHQR Vinyl There's always the "stamper" of Aja for $700! AND, it's not noise free! Steely Dan - Aja - Nearly White Hot Stamper (Quiet Vinyl) – Better Records (better-records.com) Few years back, I thought Pretzel Logic @ $500 was a bit much. At least was "... |
