Cat Scratch Fever?
It Covid happened during Ted's time, Ted with his Gibson Brydland along with  cranked Fender Twins would have sent it back China.
Best bang for buck phono preamp for Rega Planar 3 Turntable
If you're looking for a "best" for $129-Schiit Mani.https://www.schiit.com/products/maniI used one as a backup for my "proper" phonostage($2500). Good enough to keep until you get the itch to upgrade.
Which Phono Preamp?
Among your choices HW(VPI) gives the PS Audi a thumbs up.http://vpiforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=18189The Pass would be the other choice if cost isn't a big deal.
What do we hear when we change the direction of a wire?
It's pretty easy to hear.Vocal/words are intelligible/backwards when cable with an arrow is connected incorrectly. Pay attention to the arrow!I've read one manufacturer puts an arrow because the consumer expects one.
Raven Audio Nighthawk
"Thought Icon was made in the UK."Icon is a UK based company, but  their products are manufactured in China-like the majority of brands.
Raven Audio Nighthawk
That's unfortunate you had a bad experience with Raven, ozzy62.Their products appear to be good, but it looks like a small, understaffed organization in a difficult time. Have you tried any of the tried and true Chinese brands many love to bash- P...
Turntables.....A point of diminishing returns?
Playing with VTA on the screen while playing might be fun for about 5 minutes.  After that I probably would trade it in for another ridiculous hi end turntable and repeat the process-enjoy the novelty and become jaded.Meanwhile a Rega, VPI or what...
Best way to wipe off the dust cleaning the gear
The "best" way is to use the brush attachment on your vacuum. Any other way is simply pushing the dust around that isn't being picked up by the cloth or any other method. Obviously, you have to be extra careful around tube equipment/table and ever...

big_greg-Thanks for heads up. The internet is great, I now have something to watch during dinner now!Currently using another Kiseki Blue by the way. Remindedme of how great it is, especially for what I purchased it for.
Guitar Solos
I usually don’t bump old threads, but since it’s guitar solos’s I couldn’t resist.bdp24 always has great nominees."Many Steely Dan records have a lot of hidden gems in terms of guitar solos."big_greg-As a fan of SD up to maybe Aja- ALL the guitar ...

Kind of Blue SACD on a whim.
"I'm going to follow the connections of the late 50s for a while."n80-50'-early 60's might be "the pocket" of the "straight ahead" heavy hitters. Enough to keep you busy for sometime. After that period, many supporting sidemen  ventured on their o...

n80-I'm in $20K deep... No mas! I direct all my audio OCD toward finding the best used LP these days. Since you're just getting your feet wet with Jazz discovery, you made a good choice with KOB.Just be prepared  if you ask for Kenny G recommendat...
tonearm cable, do you need one?
Some IC's may be noisier than others due to build(shielding) If you choose to not use phono   cables, just use a piece of wire  for the ground(table to phonostage). You may not even need it. My VPI doesn't depending on cart used for whatever reason.
Kind of Blue SACD on a whim.
"I just haven't been able to pull the trigger..."n80-there is someone using that stuff. Hopefully they hear everything the website claims! I bet there is  someone  using it on cables that cost LESS than the actual product. The best way to discover ...
