Which vintage tube pre for my class D amp?
Why not try a more current tube preamp to get the best from the amps? They are dead quiet with a black background and are fully balanced and you should run them that way to get the most from them. A vintage tube pre, no matter how romantic, will b...
Anyone auditioned Pass Labs XP-30 preamp?
Mdowns, I also went from the X1 to the XP10 and got it from Mark too, and yes, what a great upgrade! So much better bottom end, better volume flexibility, better remote, better gain structure, and great at low levels. Warmer sound too and more mus...
Anyone auditioned Pass Labs XP-30 preamp?
Thesoundhouse--interesting! I have the XP10 and love it too and have always wondered about the XP20--can you be more specific about why you stuck w/ the XP10? How did bass compare? That XP30 looks out of control--or totally in control, depending o...
Hrrmmm..What a difference..Now must move speakers
Ayre and Bel Canto gear are fully balanced differential output and perform best in that configuration. No surprise at all. Bet your soundtage is wider, deeper and blacker background with less hash in the signal chain. Enjoy!
If you could bring back one great artist that has
Jerry Garcia.

To Marakanetz, Hickbone's Pass amp will run loads of current. It's certainly not the issue here. Read all of above.

Sorry, that was just text I should have deleted, but the reference would have been to the Purist line of cables which are pricey but really nice sound IMO. Anyway, I am running my G Refs from DAC to pre now that I added some Synergistic Tesla Acce...

Thanks for the info! This is not a snide remark, but hopefully helpful advice. I have heard or owned many of your components. The AZ cable is not the problem, but I bet your AUdience are making the sound a bit thinner than you want. I have the HT ...

you should post your system, otherwise no one can advise you.
Having an ear for Jazz
I am with Erikt. It's all good. I still rock out as a child of the 70s, but I have found as I have gotten older that some genres of music that I didn't quite "get" before make a lot more sense now. Starting back playing the guitar after 30 years h...
Two Turntables and Hum Problems - Help Please
the subs could be a problem too, as the OP offered up.
Golden Reference VS Golden Cross
GC warmer and fuller in the mid bass but with outanding wide deep soundstage. GR still warm but a bit tighter in the mid and low bass. Both extremely organic and rich pallette of sound.
Harmonic Technology Interconnects
I have the Magic 1 RCA on my turntable interconnects. Seem open, wide, deep and smooth to me. Haven't done any other a/b comparisons. The locking RCAs are a bit tricky to work though.
Pass Labs XP10 or Wyred 4 Sound STP-SE
The Pass XP10 will blow the Wyred away in terms of build quality and overall refinement. It's a spectacular preamp that you'll find long term satisfaction with. Good luck!
Hearing loss tied to high cholesterol
So, it logically follows that if your system is too bright, then instead of spending thousands on cables to tame the sound, just eat more bacon and eggs. Nice solution!
