Does anybody smell smoke?
My guess is that the cable jacket is permeated w smoke and you can only really clean the surface. There are strong odor neutralizers that they use in the plumbing trade (you can imagine why). Try putting the cable in a sealed bag w one for a few d...
anyone else hate locking RCAs?
One question for those who like the Eichmann bullets. Do you have any issues w the single pin grounding arrangement? APL warns that there could be problems using those w the WBT Nextgen RCA jacks.
Hadcock GH228 and Shelter 501 - do they mate well?
For example, I looked at the thread after the post above appeared (w no intervening posts) and there was no edit "button". I have no idea why.

Viridian- In my experience, the edit post button is sometimes available and sometimes not; appears to be random.
Headphone Amps and Portable/Personal Stereo???
Rello- CMOY is a headphone amp, built from an "open source" design by DIYers and some small shops. Search head-fi.org and you'll find a lot about it. No idea how the circuit compares to an RA-1.
How to sell?
Post it to the classifieds.
Maybe your turntable setup is actually okay . . .
RE: Kirkus post. Very good points. Not sure how anyone can address #1 other than by process of elimination. If the stylus is square and you align to the cantilever w a good mirrored arc tractor you can address slight mis-alignments in the cantilev...
Heavy Power Cords
Teflon tape would I imagine be way better than electrical tape in terms of not leaving any goo, better heat resistance, and better "adjustability" since its so thin. The down side would be many more wraps and more patience necessary because its so...
Please help with your opinion
I'd go with the (integrated) amp first. The caps on the Yamaha are nearing the end of their useful like, and many of the early 80's amps from Yamaha and others had VERY low THD specs through the use of lots of negative feedback. A modern tube amp ...
I seek your guidance - re turntable
Nrenter's advice about proper set-up is right on! Never heard the SL-1200 but lots of folks here love 'em.
Jadem6 stumbled... but hasn't fallen. Yet.
I, too have been in touch w JD for quite a few years, although never had the chance to meet, living 1/2 way across the country. Believe it or not, he is looking forward to getting a new heart and a better quality of life down the road. Me, I'd be ...
Looking for info on headphones
Jim- Maybe you can just get the neigbors to lay off on the "puppy-uppers". Headphones are very personal. I like 'em but some don't. A headphone amp will make a big difference. Enjoy.
Upgrade for TrueHD and 5.1= Better sound or worse?
On the 4.1 question, you would use Phantom center mode or something like that. And for movies, quality of surrounds not critical at all. Mostly effects, foot steps, bullets richoceting, crowd noises, etc.
Looking for info on headphones
Jim- YOu will hear not hear the fridge, you will hear the puppy (have you tried feeding him doggie downers? grin). As far as the Scuds go, they fall silently; its the patriot missile blasting off next door that you will hear ;~)
"Watts" Versus "Current"
Ns- you bet. I've been watching this thread for a few net sessions and quite honestly had meant to mention it as well. I was mostly referring to the analogy which for non-tech types of math-phobes (I'm not one, but many are) its easier to grasp th...
