Music Server with no DAC?
Not having heard an SB and having a Modwright TP, its hard for me to judge, but I'm also thinking that Cruz123 is correct. With an external DAC, that is probably the sweet spot in the price/performance/functionality spectrum.
Music Server with no DAC?
Lightminer- I think your thinking is colored by the price of a stand-alone DAC. The MW already has a case, power supply, inputs and outputs, product distribution/marketing, streaming software and hardware, and R&D built into the cost. If you e...
Music Server with no DAC?
So, for example, in the present, Media-Monkey, Bryston DAC, 24/96 downloads, Laptop w/external HD, should completely kill the Transporter at a cost of just 300 or so more depending on details. From a cost standpoint, yes, IF you already own the Bry...
Music Server with no DAC?
Well, having just bought a Transporter, I can think of a couple of reasons:1. Simplicity- I for one am trying to simplify- get rid of all those jewel cases and my CDP.2. Ecoonomics- The extra cost of the DAC chips is probably pretty small compared...

3 Questions:1. If manufacturer feels that this noise is normal, why the diagnostic charge?2. $500 diagnostic charge????? You have got to be kidding me??? Local techs in my area charge less than 1/10 of that ($30-40). Please let us know the manufac...
How do I use the DAC in my Arcam AVR 300 for CD
Maybe the DAC in the NAD is as "good" as the one in the AVR, or possibly your system cannot resolve the difference. Regarding the remote, if you use a different input than what the AVR has assigned as Cd, then the remote commands and macros you ma...
How do I use the DAC in my Arcam AVR 300 for CD
digital coax out from NAD to digital in for CD on Arcam would be the easiest. You could actually use any coax or optical digital in but if you use (or significant other) are remote-challenged, I'd stick w the first choice.
there are 4 answers; refer to them by number
you left out (5) all of the above ;~)
Ear MC-4 Step up transformer
The 834p uses a step-up tranny on the MC input. If your question is, will the tranny in the MC-4 "sound" better than the one in the 835p, my guess is that you would have to compare them in your system. If you do some research, you will find that t...

What is overkill for Vandersteens?
The 3as do like power, but Tvad and others are correct. 500 wpc should be more than enough. Try them as monos and then sell one.
