Whats the best used tuner for under 1000
Lpquick is right! I still use my 12 yr old NAD Monitor Series tuner, as it was clearly one of the best of its era (and far better than their current tuners), but my Magnum Dynalab MD100 is profoundly more realistic in its portrayal.Live feeds are ...
Who uses long interconnect like in dealers?
I use an asymmetrical run of 3m + 6m Red Dawn XLR between my rack-mounted Aleph P and the Aleph 2 monos suspended from my basement ceiling joists in milk cartons, with 8' SPM cables up through the baseboards to the Parsifals.Sounds superb, and has...
A warm and rich sounding power cord
Chris, it's just too much of a coincidence, eh? Maybe there was some validity in his preference owing to the comparison of 12/3 '03 vs your 12/2 '02, vis-a-vis a safety ground too close to the hot in his application.Indeed I should have given him ...
A warm and rich sounding power cord
Any Teflon dielectric insulation cable, like the Belden 83800 series and CVH's mod of it) are NOT going to sound "warm". Far from it. Their appeal is a VERY clean and extended, linear top octave, which is NOT what the threadhead is requesting.A de...
Rear Surround Speakers
I like the Boston Acoustics VR-MX as they're attractive, are voiced for boundary support (unlike most!), and can be set up as both direct and ambient-firing depending upon your room's geometry and balance. Good Luck.
ProAc Future Series: A "Dead Dog" or just Dead??
Yeah, I did one of those "What the hell happened to those great little Pro...?" yells, too.
Any audiophile quality speaker disconnect switch?
What happens to the amp's output stage if there's no load when you power on/off? Also, does the amp similarly misbehave (sic) when its input (preamp) is turned off?
Help catch me up, please.
Sounds like you need to renew your interest in music. Sometimes a system change can spur that on, but I suggest you get out to some live concerts and then decide your priorities. Your thread bespeaks audio ennui.

Electrocompaniet owners
Ha! Again, they said that the distributor would support ALL units EXCEPT graymarketed items marketed by the Danish distributor. EC will NOT sell the "UP"grade mod directly again, so that DOES leave a few "untouchables". I'm offering to help these ...
Hammond b-3 organ
For historical reference, my aging brain recalls that the A-1 was the first Hammond. The A-3 was the precursor to the B3, and simply lacked the lowest "octaves" of reverse-color "presets". The E added percussion. The H added reverb, LOTS more perc...
PS Audio's Ultimate Outlet
Impressive. But why is the nickel so bright that the softening bandaids are required? Sheesh.
Any small monitors that dont sound thin and bright
Spendor S3/1p 2-way 6.5 ported. Have much more bottom extension than the 3/5, and that classic great smooth midrange, with a nice rolled top. NEVER get in your face, so are great for bright recordings or HT, too.
Which should I upgrade next?
I agree. Start with better AC. RSVP for details. Ern
Clean Your Cables???
Easier to humidify the room. You'll breathe better and avoid nocturnal nosebleeds, too.
