What is an audiophile? Are you an audiophile?
"...the owners of an awful lot of high end gear end up dissecting the sonics of the music, rather than enjoying it as an immersive experience" Yes. . . and furthermore, they will swear up and down that it's the music they care about, first and fo...
Eric Clapton reveals this week of his declining health
" I believe that the energy of youth and the influence a Jack Bruce's genius were responsible from the great music they created together." Can't argue with this. By contrast, what drove the Dominos was the "energy of heroin-fueled romantic desper...
Eric Clapton reveals this week of his declining health
@jafant : Funny, I remember that incident differently-- as I recall. Robbie Robertson jumped in at that point and took over.  But having just turned 66, I'm not about to claim my memory's better than yours!
Eric Clapton reveals this week of his declining health
It must be very frustrating to feel one's facility slipping away due to aging.  Clapton's career has been very mixed, to say the least. Arguably his best material was the Derek and the Dominos stuff co-credited to him and Bobby Whitlock, even if ...
Is it me? Will I ever be satisfied?
"So many questions that need to be answered before you throw money at it" +1
Is it me? Will I ever be satisfied?
Hopefully, more experienced forum members will respond but perhaps I can start the ball rolling. First of all, do you have an idea of how the room might be affecting the sound?Having a dedicated space is a real advantage. It would be a shame to ...
Need recommendation for someone to analyze and repair Burson amps.?
So their corporate policy amounts to "don't expect us to stand behind our products"? And the second part is, no doubt, "we'd be happy to sell you the new, improved version". . .
Tweaks, money pit or real value?
What I've experienced experimenting with footers is that they typically make the system sound different but not better. At first, the novelty of a change leads me to conclude there's been a net improvement but with time I realize I've merely excha...
Any song recommendations for testing purposes?
FYI, detail and dynamics are not the same thing. . .
What was the most impactful addition to your system?
Biggest by far has been recently acquired Hegel H390.  Before that, acquiring Symposium Svelte Plus shelves and Rollerblock Jr.. footers for use under integrated. transport and DAC.
Law of Accelerated Returns
@musicaddict: "Those are pretty much my thoughts and experience as well, in fact I cannot think of a single sentence you wrote that I disagree with" Well, thanks. Seems to me what I wrote is pretty much just common sense for those of us who have...
Toilet Paper to Vacuum Tubes
Never got the directive to hoard toilet paper. Guess that's the price I pay for not following conspiracy theorists. If people had not hoarded it, there wouldn't have been a shortage-- perfect example of  a self-fullfilling prophecy.
Looking for Blues with High Fidelity
The  OP clearly asked for recommendations for Blues CDs with HIGH FIDELITY.  Many here seem to be simply listing their favorite Blues CDs.
Totally overwhelmed (speakers under $5k)
@ghdprentice: Yes-- I consider myself fortunate in that detail was never one of my top priorities.  The Hegel H390 provides plenty of detail for my needs while the slightly rolled off top end keeps the fatigue at bay. I worry the OP's want-list...
Totally overwhelmed (speakers under $5k)
Achieving highly detailed sound that is not fatiguing can be challenging. If this is a "must", I'd suggest you not buy anything you cannot return. Compile a list of brands offered by Audio Advisor, TMR, Music Direct, etc. and research which of the...
