And Awaaay We Go!
If I had the $ to spend, I’d no doubt have a different opinion but as things stand, such extravagance is far, far removed from my experience. Audio ala Harley is so clearly a rich man’s activity, like yachting. I find little of relevance and due...

@mahgister A living room room can sound good with no apparent defect... Then you can live with it without doing any acoustic treatment ...It will be just ok... It will not be optimal... "Not optimal" is "OK" with me; my system is "good" enou...

@pjw81563  I don't know what you mean by "wobbly"..Maybe you can define it another way.  I'm speaking of intonation -- whether one plays pitches "in tune" or slightly flat or sharp for reasons of expression.

@kota1 I do not have a dedicated room -- my system’s in our living room. Nor did I enter this hobby in possession of an engineering mind-set. I’m a creative person/music lover who’s discovered my listening experience is enhanced by a nice system...

@pjw81563 tonality can vary in its presentation from minor to complete dissonance. Yes -- this is indisputable. And you are correct -- Eric Dolphy does not engage in "chaos". Nevertheless, I find I do not enjoy his playing, at this point. Wh...
BEST CD TRANSPORT
The jays MKII was also a very good transport. It is more forward sounding than the Pro-Ject and the Audiomeca so it sounds a little faster.  Wish I'd known this before ordering my Jay's! Not one review I read mentioned the forward aspect. In my...
Speaker that are 'KEEPERS" for the long haul!!!
As someone who can be easily drawn into obsession, I'm glad I lack the financial resources to cycle through a bunch of speakers looking for "the one".  It would surely drive me nuts!  I've had my Silverlines for about 15 years. Nothing else that ...

@jafant Thanks. I have "Ming’s Samba" but none of the others on your list. Will check them out. I have "Ballads" and "Lovers" as well. These are probably fairly conservative, for him. I used to favor more atonality but as I’ve aged, my taste fo...
New DAC! Meitner MA3, Denafrips Terminator Plus, Holo May KTE, Mola Mola Tambaqui
You say you want "better" but what exactly would "better" sound like? Would you recognize it if you heard it? Do your research, read reviews, compare specs and listening impressions but in the end, you are going to have listen for yourself. If yo...

@curiousjim Curtis Counce, You Get More Bounce With Curtis Counce Good one! I believe that particular group released three records. You might also like "Hear Y, Hear Ye" by Harold Land/Red Mitchell Quintet: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t...

@alexatpos  I would say that lots of my jazz records that I bought first were from 70's jazz, music that somewhat sounded (to me anyway at the time) like 'rock' music of that era. As I have continued to listen jazz, I started more and more to ap...

If you're looking for an integrated with the ability to drive many speakers, a capable on-board dac and streaming, you might take a look at Hegel H390 or H590.

@pjw81563  I've got S. Colossus, Newk's Time, and Plus Four (w. Clifford Brown). At this point, these are the three I like the most. I like Stitt so I'll try Sonny Side Up.   @acman3  Stuartk, we can be friends, but I have gotten rid of girlfr...

@jafant David Murray I have a few D. Murray CDs but most of his stuff is too outside for me. I’m curious -- what are some of your favorite D. Murray recordings?  @curiousjim Growing old ain’t for the weak! No, unfortunately, as many of ...
