Where were you when you first heard ""Born To Run"?
In a friend's apartment in Glendale, CA. At that time, I was mostly a fan of The Allmans, Neil Young, Hendrix, Stones, Clapton, The Who, etc. and Springsteen's sound and the world he described were new to me. What caught my attention right away we...
John Fogerty Legacy Album
@aeschwartz  Perhaps, for those if us who grew up hearing the original versions on our transistor radios, any other versions will inevitably feel like a let-down by comparison. Why? Simply because there is more than the music involved. Our memori...

@audio-b-dog  Research is expensive. The question is: who funds the research and what are their ultimate aims/agendas???
Let's talk music, no genre boundaries
@mahgister  The truth is simply evident : What power mankind will delegate to a.I. mankind will had the consequence  that  mankind loose his ability to create it again in himself from himself.. Yes. And in the US, at least, this process of "de...
Wasted Years.
@mulveling  Often the learning process takes longer than we'd like. Sometimes waaaay longer...but on the flip side, those tend to be the lessons we REALLY learn. It's part of the process nonetheless, so I'd hesitate to call it "wasted" time. T...
Any Hegel H390 owners using Hegel D50 DAC?
@mdalton   It’s kind of like criticizing the Hegel H400 for having streaming capacity (and a DAC).  It’s still a really fine integrated.   I'm content with playing CDs but I can't fault your logic.

@mahgister  Spiritual transformation not just leisure... Indeed. And the process of growth is not necessarily a "walk in the park".
Let's talk music, no genre boundaries
@audio-b-dog  We can go around and around with this. I’m a writer, too. And while I recognize the  value of "authentic detail", what interests me more is what doesn’t change from one generation to the next.   I agree that Spotify is not the best...
Let's talk music, no genre boundaries
@audio-b-dog  It's part of my ethos to try to keep up with new things. I don't want to be an old man who is totally out of it. I want to keep surprising my granddaughters.  Well, OK. It's not part of mine. I stopped worrying about keeping up w...
Let's talk music, no genre boundaries
@mahgister  But it is useful to stream a new composer or album before deciding to purchase it ... Sure. I do this for free on Spotify!  But as I see it, it makes no sense, given all the $ I’ve spent on CDs, to start over with streaming. And, I...
My impressions of the much Hyped LAIV Harmony DAC (I ordered one and Listened to it.)
@gita  I see it as the result of the current HiFi business model; few opportunities for brick and mortar auditions, so roll the dice. ... or buy used and sell what doesn’t work. Or, limit one’s purchase to those products available with return ...
Let's talk music, no genre boundaries
@audio-b-dog  No doubt it there would be practical and perhaps sonic advantages to switching from CDs to streaming. The prospect of entrusting my listening to an internet connection that can go down at any time makes me nervous. Listening to musi...

@mahgister  I understand and i am sorry for your frustration... ... which is far outweighed by all of your suggestions that are expanding my awareness and enjoyment of, Classical music.    ;o)
Any Hegel H390 owners using Hegel D50 DAC?
@mdalton  I've been a customer of the Cable Co. for some time. I agree about their service.  I see the DS-10 is a streamer/dac. I prefer physical media (CDs) so I don't know that putting my money into a component that offers features I will not ...
