..another Entymotic user.....I've had these for about 10 years or so....always delivers music and isolates the surrounding noise.

to really explore this, take a Music Appreciation class at your local college...and take up an instrument  
Most “disappeared” speakers.
A good bet is for the speaker to be time aligned and put in the room so as not to screw up the phasing.

Shocked removed spikes, used blue tack, what other non spike footer
I have Vandersteen 5A’s that come with spikes. I heard that Herbe’s was a step in the right direction....got 6 to isolate the speakers from my stone floor.....sent them back....wrong direction. You have to try any adjustment to hear their effects.

When a surge took out a Vandersteen amp, tried a few power conditioners..all made the sound worse...got a whole house protector wired into the mains box and find the problem solved. 
I'm having a really hard time with: "Power cable reduced my soundstage"...
In my experience, shielding tends to close in the sound (although some system really need it).   If with this new cable (op) the soundstage is reduced it could be that some hum is coming through and screwing up the perception of "air" and "placeme...
