I thought I heard a troll from my Vandersteen speakers and guessed it was from my Ayre V1...many years old.  Gary at Ayre heard nothing untoward, but replaced this, that, and those, and it now sounds even better.  Even though, it's old, it perform...

Any time I've tried shielded and non shielded varieties of even the same cable....shielded always sounds "closed in" in comparison.

If your equipment is Differentially Balanced and using XLR interconnects, there is very little difference in the XLR cables you use.  They all are great.

I'm with Lewn......I tried a number of different power cords on my turntable and none made any difference at all from each other or stock.   The change in wall wart may make a difference....mine plugs into the wall.
