My ears are ready to retire!
My suggestion is to get a Sony Walkman and Grado GR10E earphones. The sound is excellent and portable.  If you get them from Amazon and they disappoint, a full return is easy. 
How to integrate stereo and multi channel?
Multi channel in another room  The only way it works for me.

I bought but ultimately didn't like my 802's. Went to Vandersteen

Looking For Best Headphones
All you people with cutting edge headphones.....I have a Grado GR10E in ear phones with a Sony Walkman music player....gives me more pleasure than my 75K or so system.

Yes...my current stuff was once state of the art......Im too old now to invest in the multi thousands needed to get any better if at all. 
Your system struck by lightning? What did you learn?
I had a lightening storm take out a Vandersteen amp...Repaired at surprising minimal cost, after which I installed a whole house surge protector. No problems after the installation

Is going from a Ortofon Candenza Black to a Ortofon Winfield a lateral move?
I have an original Winfield, and like it. It does not glorify records...it tells it like it is. Good recordings are fabulous with great depth, air, etc....( even monos sound very good). Poorly recorded discs will sound just that way. Tracks everyt...
