Could use some amp suggestions If you are a true audiophile, you should know that quality of amp is more important than power. My favorite amps are Ayre, Bat, Audio Research.
Omni Speaker Options Amilcar...why would you say that my hearing was fatigued?? It was not. The total MBL system I heard sounded heavy, ponderous and fake. That's not to say that you will like or not like them. That is what I heard. My post was a suggestion that you l...
Benz Ruby 3s impedance loading I have a Benz LP Ebony, and 1000 ohms is quite perfect in my system. I have an infinite number of options in this regard, and just checked...1000 ohms. I remember that the cartridge took a very long time to break in...if yours is new, give it a co...
VTA adjustment for Linn LP-12 If I were you, I'd just suck it up, get the VTA as best as you can with trial and error..and never touch it again. If you put your turntable on 3 big cans of tomatoes or similar objects to raise it, you can work beneath it much easier.
Omni Speaker Options Amicar...strongly urge you to listen to your choice before you plunk down money. I couldn't live with MBL's if I were paid for it. Someone on this discussion said they had great fireworks, and I do agree. To my trained, professional violinist ears...
Woofing "Q" Woofer enclosure doesn't matter. You want to get the balance correct, and therefore the loudness of the sub does matter. Any powered sub I know has the means to vary the output. I have found that subs that fire down...or anyway, not directly out a...
What's the best approach to add Headphone Amp? I use a balanced headphone amp plugged into the 2nd balanced output of the preamp...the 1st balanced output goes to my balanced amp for the speakers. When I use the headphone amp, I do not power up the amp for the speakers. When I use the amp for ...
Has anyone heard the VPI Classic yet Suteetat...You must experiment to get the correct damping in your arm. Listen very carefully with no damping, and when you're sure you know the sound, use 1 drop at a time in the bearing cup and listen again after each addition. You will hear the ...
Lacking Soundstage - Vandersteen 2C All the responses above make sense, however, you must have components that can reveal depth and width. I find that power cords can do wondrous things...if you choose the right ones.
Which new VPI Turntable? Suteetat...you CAN adjust VTA on the fly with the regular Classic tonearm, except it is not quite convenient. I think its silly to upgrade to the tower unless you change VTA for every record.
Which new VPI Turntable? Cnalak et al....The 10.5 normally used on the Classic is the same as the 10.5i - VPI's premier 10 inch arm, except that the VTA tower is omited (you can still adjust VTA on the fly, but not as conveniently), it does NOT have Valhalla wire, but a s...
Power Cables which take the soundstage back For me, power cords made a HUGE difference...in that I must agree with Richard_Stacey... My system was very good with stock power cords, but is absolutely magical now with the upgraded cords. Vandersteen 5A's have powered subwoofers built into the...
Which new VPI Turntable? Why don't you call Harry at VPI and ask him what he thinks. I always am treated honestly and fairly...I'm sure he will give you good guidance.
Power Cables which take the soundstage back EVERY power cord changes my system...they all add, subtract, enlarge, reduce, etc., etc. I built my own with Accrolink wire and Oyeida plugs or Furutech. I have an all Ayre system with Vandersteen 5A's. The amp likes the Furutech plugs, whereas th...
Headphone Amp for Work Go to Headroom and ask them all your questions. There isn't anyplace that knows as much. I have their balanced amp with Senheiser 650's in balanced mode, and they are wonderful together. |
