Mccormack DNA-1 deluxe vs PASS X150.5 amps??
SunnyJim...I hear your frustration. I am quite sure, the changing of your amp will do little to really make you happy. If I shared your predicament, I would borrow a good pair of earphones and a good headphone amp ...the only way I know of to hear...
Yamamura m6000 speaker cable??
I think you are correct, and not the seller.
Musical Fidelity Tri Vista DAC, Should I upgrade?
That's what we do around here.
Speaker Rake
The Vandersteen 7 has a laser device built into it which facilitates your very adjustment problem. The lasers are pointed directly toward the listener's seated position for the best sound. You are correct that misadjustment of the rake angle on so...
Do you use variable speed on your turntable?
Audiofiel...thanks for the chuckles..very good.
Best treatment for speaker feet????
Try making a platform of cinder blocks. They are cheap and might really improve things. I would also put spikes under the speakers. I am using Vandersteen 5A's that come with spikes. In my last home in New Jersey, my listening room was on the seco...
Should I try separates
If you're happy as you say you are, you will just open yourself to the dredded and very expensive upgrade sickness.
lp grunge
I find that the best cleaning method is steaming. It gets off everything including peanut butter and jelly.
Balanced to RCA interconnect--is it beneficial?
no benefit
CONUNDRUM
Handyman...I don't believe you are correct when assuming that the output can not be reduced without sacrifice. Call Audio Research, and I am quite positive that by substituting a resistor, (an easy procedure...but you need the right kind and value...
Tannoy Kensington Se vs. Sonus Faber Cremona M
I agree with Jallen.... Listen to both, but Sonus for me does touch base with what music is all about. I don't think they are the last word in any single parameter...but somehow they do touch my musical sense.
does a stylus retip makea cartridge as good as new
..not necessarily so.... A retip is only the replacement of the "needle"....often, the suspension needs to be replaced. I believe soundsmith can do suspension repairs, however, they don't use original parts. The stylus may be of different material...
Snapped off my cantilever
Soundsmith will do a great job, but the cartridge you get back is not going to be the same. If you like your cartridge as well as you say you do, have Clearaudio repair it.
Dynaudio Confidence 5 vs Harbeth
Why limit yourself...check out all speakers if indeed you are committed to buying something new. I like Maggies and Vandersteens which I would recommend you put on your listening list, however, I would listen to them all if I were you.
DiMarzio cables
I have Dimarzio balanced XLR cables and find them excellent. I caution all to audition all cables in your own system, because all cables sound different in different systems.
