Does Anyone Know the History of the Early Sota Turntables?
I had an early Saphire.....be sure to use a light arm with it.   My Sota couldn't hold an old SME...the springs gave out.

Turntable suggestions for a newbie
If your Ortofon is not that great it's worn out (go to Soundsmith for repair) or is not set up correctly.   I have a Windfield on my VPI arm and it sounds great.  Some complain of VPI's unipivot arm....I attached their optional 2nd pivot.....happy.
New Speakers under consideration - but I’m afraid
It's all a matter of taste.......I had B&W 802  ...rubbed me the wrong way.   I now have Vandersteens and am happier

Turntable suggestions for a newbie
I have had my VPI for many years.....most vinyl players are a pain to set up....but there is a great joy in reading, following suggestions and enjoying the results.  VPI the company is very helpful ...as would be the dealer you get it from.  Don't...
