Tonearm ringing excited during playback If you're positive you set up the arm correctly, and that the table is not on a ringing supporting shelf/table, etc. then I would use a bit of damping at the pivot. Just add 1 drop after listening...if the sound is good, add another drop and liste...
Rega RP10 vs. VPI Classic Signature VPI could use a better cartridge. ...maybe a Black or Windfield or better. ...also check out the Prime...better arm and comparable turntable.
Cleaning records. How often really? My wife doesn't cook at all, and won't let me near the kitchen for any cooking either. (ocd) We live in the desert..no damned humidity either.
Cleaning records. How often really? ct0517,, only use Skippy crunchy....get it at Costco.
Cleaning records. How often really? Almost never.... I use a Hunt brush before playing. I have a Nitty Gritty, but only use it to get peanut butter off of the record if I find some.
Benz Micro Ruby Z My LPS sounds best into my Ayre preamp at 1000 ohms
Rega, Pro-Ject, Technics SL-1200 I NEVER kid around
Rega, Pro-Ject, Technics SL-1200 Sam...you think I'm kidding or out of my mind don't you. I actually made lots of money with these cans as an idea to create a company that sold the end result of the idea to audiophiles all over the country.

MRA : Myth or Menace? ..sounds like hukus pokus to me. I never clean my new records...even old ones (except if I discover peanut butter and jelly) on them. I run a Hunt brush over them before playing to remove dust, and am good to go. My records from 1970's have an occ...
Cartridge breakin ......how long? To me hours are meaningless. Just listen and enjoy your music. If while listening something is bothering you, experiment with VTF, arm height, loading....it should be a quest for satisfaction and your ability to squeeze your system to provide it.
How often do you upgrade your turntable? its like anything else...when your wallet is too thick decide the best way to thin it.
VPI Belt types If you want to upgrade, the Super Platter should be replaced with a Classic....major improvement. Belts ..not nearly so much...You probably won't even notice a difference at all.
$510.00 for an Aluminum cover for the ARC Ref. 10? Have the cover custom made if you can't do it...it will save lots of money...even if you make it from brass. |
