$16K new/used speaker question? I’m surprised you haven’t considered top level Vandersteens. I you're anywhere near, or can get to AudioConnection in Verona, NJ, you will find what you're looking for. Speak to John Ruton (even over the phone) for lots of ideas.
Help with Cable selection Very much agree with mlpai. ..so much so, that I just got 2 pair of double shotguns that I'll biwire with my Vandersteens. ...a wonderful shopping experience. Highly recommended
why do people feel the need to buy expensive cable Here is plug for Clear Day cables. ...such a nice guy to deal with...such wonderful (and I mean wonderful) speaker cables. Cable length dilemma! I suggst finding a different spot for the speakers. Anything large placed between them will be greatly detrimental to the sound. If its a real fire place with a flu...all your lows will go up that flu. Bad placement.
Best Of Breed or Matching Components? I use the same manufacturer for all my electronics...amp/preamp/CD player. They all work well together because they were designed that way.
Etna or Atlas for Superscout? Both great choices....non better in my opinion. To THESE ears, the Atlas is perfect in everything...the Etna a weeee bit less. But a bit more musical for me. Your arm and table are perfect for either. Remember Heifitz always played one note wr...

Subwoofer tboooe.....you'll be happy. Its not necessary to get the most expensive ones you can find. Even moderately priced subs help and will not destroy your very fine Sonus Fabers.
Hum in speakers Go to Home Depot and get a "cheater plug". Try to get one that has 2 spades, and no ground (long, round) connection. If they only have the grounded type, just cut off that round pin. Plug your cheater into the wall with the amp attached. If that d...
Ortofon Cadenza Black Vs A90 I'm using a Windfield which is (I think) a suped up Black......think it quite extraordinary...especially how its priced. 1000 ohms opens it up...very even and colorless.
Who in the North New Jersey area. to set up and dial in turntable? Whart....yes... If you want John to come to your house, I'm sure that could be arranged. If the object is to get the turntable done right, and if Arizona is too far away for Me to do it, then John is the man to get it done.
why do people feel the need to buy expensive cable or expensive watches, or expensive cars, or expensive wine, etc.....
Audience Au24se vs Au24sx cables I wouldn't ... You seem happy with the ones you have. Remember ..there is no end.
Recs for a 2nd tonearm cart I've dabbled in this crazy and expensive hobby for 50 years, and could never understand why anyone would want a 2nd tonearm. I must have had 15 or so, but only one at a time. |
