Upcoming Technics SP-10R (100th Anniversary Model)
I heard that the older ones sound better  (from those you actually heard them)
Speaker spike feet?
..an interesting observation.....all cones sound different.  I have aluminum, steel, hard plastic, hard rubber, copper, wood ......the best were brass, but even different brass ones sounded different.
Speaker spike feet?
addison.....I suppose it would depend on the speaker weight.....It took about 10 seconds for my Vandersteens to pierce the coins.....got brass protectors that work well.
Help me pick a phono, pre and cart
SOOOO many suggestions.......   the only way to please yourself is to listen to this stuff and experience the result.  In New Jersey, go to AudioConnection and spend some time with John Rutan.
Phono stage can minimize tics and pops on vinyl
a good system won’t minimize the clicks.pops, but neither will it emphasize them. I hear the noise on a different plane than the music. In life, if someone sneezes from the 2nd balcony, it sounds from a different place than the orchestra.
Speaker spike feet?
Addyson et al......don't use pennies.....the spikes easily make their way through the metal..
Speakers for aging audiophiles - What's with today bass emphasis ?
If you're an aging audiophile your high and mid frequencies are depressed.  Try hearing aids....they aren't perfect, but certainly can help if you choose the right pair.
Amp upgrade from Ayre V-5xe
I use only balanced operation from CD, and phono....and out to the Vandersteen high pass filters then to the amp. I then run the speakers bi-wire.   I would ruminate on John Rutan's advice.....he is a whiz at this stuff.
Please vote
owned B&W's....replaced them with Vandersteen....happy with the change.
Amp upgrade from Ayre V-5xe
If it were me, I'd borrow one to take home and listen to the 2 of them.   I have Ayre.....great company....very supportive.
Ayre AX7e vs Hegel H160
I own an all Ayre/Vandersteen system.   ....don't know your system but do know that Ayre has top level customer support...   Their stuff is built like a tank....you probably won't need it.....  but know that its there.
what would be a good mat for a VPI SCOUT JWM9
I have a Superscoutmaster......no mat- much better.  However, I switched to the Classic platter....now THAT's an upgrade.
Has Paypal suddenly started charging sales tax?
A law was just passed that allows all internet sales to be taxable.  Pay up!
Another Bi-wiring question: Amp related
You should pose that question to Richard himself....If you have a high pass filter in the setup, I would guess he'd be against it....but I know nothing
I've got the Summertime Blues. Power conditioner necessary?
Usually not worth the money or effort.
