Is there somewhere I can check vinyl sound quality?
@ochremoon +1 thanks for sharing info on the HIS site. Makes it really easy to use their info in conjunction with Acoustic Sounds ... since AS classifies by genre, artist, and label. I quickly located a specific highly rated hisonvinyl recommendat...
Is there somewhere I can check vinyl sound quality?
Oh yeah ... Acoustic Sounds has a "pre-owned" section - complete with quality grading system. For used, they tend to be a bit pricey, but good deals show up from time to time.
Is there somewhere I can check vinyl sound quality?
I've had good luck with Japanese vinyl in terms of production quality. Also, through trail, error, and experimentation some good finds can be had by paying attention to the label and time period. For example, Crown Records put out some good stuff ...
Signal Cable -- High End Generic?
Signal was my first experience with cable upgrades over standard issue "rat shack" stuff. I still use some of Frank's PC's and I/C's ... mostly in my HT set-up. IMHO, one would have to invest at least 2X to 3X more dollars to receive a noticeable ...
Rythmik subwoofers?
I too have spoken with Fritz a couple of times. Met him at the first California Audio Show. He's one of the most straightforward folks you'll meet in this hobby ... knowledgeable, generous, and friendly. Dave Fabrikant of Ascend Acoustics partners...

I NEED AN AMP!! BUT WHAT?? HELP PLEASE!!
Although I've never heard it, I'd go with the Odyssey Khartago with a budget of $1k ... for all the reasons stated earlier. If you check over at the audio circle dot com, you'll read about the Odyssey line garnering "best in show" against some fai...
6922 Tubes!
Thanks for the suggestion @johnnyb53 , but it took a fair amount of trial and experimentation to settle on a combo that works for me. For TT set-up I'm using the AT150 cart with Audio Horizons TP 8.0 phono pre; and went through quite a few listeni...
Jazz for aficionados
Jumping in real quick to give a big THANKS to all the regular contributors ... and especially @orpheus10  and @frogman for making me feel welcome.
6922 Tubes!
I've had very good luck with Amperex Orange Globe 6DJ8's. IMHO close to Amperex 6922 PQ in sound quality, but a LOT more economical. In my system, while the Russian rocket logo 6N1P's were indeed very quiet, they're a bit sterile for my tastes. I ...
Jazz for aficionados
Admittedly kinda late to the party, but wanted to weigh in on this. I understand completely what @frogman is getting at; and for the record, I would call what's in @orpheus10 's Hank Crawford youtube post some form of soul jazz. No doubt, Hank was...
Looking for SACD player............
@jafant I believe Joseph is back to doing mods through the "Component Plus" division of Audio Horizons (audio-horizons dot com). Things kind of slowed down following the death of Victor Comerchero - his longtime friend and business partner. Victor...
Looking for SACD player............
Yes, Dan does good work; and I agree with @samzx12 . Mods are not good investments if one is looking for a decent return on resale. I found that out when I went to resell my first TRL-modded CD player. Folks will not pay much above the stock resel...
