I would try checking Azimuth and for proper alignment.  Depending on your set up this can drift a bit over time. 
Best type of metal for turntable platform?
I would try a sandwich of Acrylic, Aluminum, and MDF to vary the density of  the materials.  A liberal application of silicone caulking between them.

If you are using line level input try using speaker level input if it is available on your subs.

I agree with the other folks who point out cd is a dying breed.To answer your question digital is more convenient but vinyl analog is far superior sonically

Just a tip  on the optical cable.  Before plugging into the target component make sure you can see light coming from the cable.  If you don't see any you won't get a signal.

My thoughts on TT isolation methods.
I built one step one go to granite shop pick an appropriate sized scrap piece, Step 2 picked up a 1 inch thick sheet of MDF, Step 3 cut up an old yoga mat and glued it between the properly sized marble and MDF piece.  Clamped them together and let...

Next time make sure you check the voltage requirements before plugging it in.  If you would have noticed it was set for 120 or 110 you could have returned it or purchased a voltage converter to use with it.
