Your favorite Sheherazade LP ?
Boston Symphony Orchestra, Ozawa, DG circa 1979.The finest performance, it doesn't drag, not too fast, and the dynamic hits are well coalesced.
Why does it sound better at lower volumes?
Speaker placement. Try aiming your speakers straight ahead for higher volumes, this should remove some of the beaming that you translate as harshness. I believe that a little drop off to the sides (off axis) can actually help tune speakers for hig...
Thiel 2.3 vs 2.4
Can't argue with a post that happened 4 years ago but Cinematic Systems was a bit off-base when he partnered a Meridian amp with Thiels and then called the Thiel's foul. And this is/was a reputable dealer? For shame.I am tired of the Thiel bashing ...

Second failure of new amplifier

Stereophile Class A and Frequency Response
Do you actually believe anything Sterophile says anymore. They promised a review of the Krell KCT years ago and when they didn't deliver they lost my subscription. And have you seen the latest issue, it bears no resemblance to this once fine journ...
Jeff Healey Rest In Peace
He appeared in the film "Roadhouse" with Patrick Swayze. Worth a look if only to see the scenes with Jeff.
WOW factor
PS Audio Premier Power Plant
Amplifiers:A Keeper for Life. Do you know of one ?
My combo of Krell KCT and 400cx connected via CAST I've had for over 5 years and have no inclination to change. They are now finally broken in and are warm and full, no tube or solid state system has bettered their combined sound and I have listen...
Jeff Healey Rest In Peace
Very sad. I was fortunate to see him around winter 1989 in Montreal. He was simply amazing and when he stood up to play he totally rocked the house. The bass player gently nudged him in the direction of his chair so he could sit down to continue b...
