What are your favorite upright 4-5 shelve audio rack recommendations? @tommylionI had the Vulcan rack and it was great for the money BUT the shelves won’t hold more than 50-60 pounds and with the big curve of the front of the shelves, some of my components wouldn’t fit without hanging over the front and back. Timbernation Platform Problems @mofimadness I do not like getting burned by someone on here that comes highly recommended. While I didn't expect Mapleshade quality, I did expect my moneys worth. I should have sent it back, but that is a whole story in itself. Peace.
Timbernation Platform Problems @mofimadness If you saw what Chris sent me, you would think that his QC issues were a lot more than "little". He will never, ever get another dime from me.
Does anyone know what happened to SUMO Electronics? RIP James Bongiorno. One of the truly great engineers is no more.
Are Avalon still in Bussines @mofimadness That's kind of a poor excuse on their part. For the uber expensive speakers they sell, they could at least have someone answering the phone. Some of these high end company's are really clueless on making good business.
Whats playing on your system today? listened to the new Jimi Hendrix CD. Amazon delivered it on a Sunday no less. Also listened to my newest favorite, "The Devil To Pay" by Kim Simmons & Savoy Brown. Only got to listen to the main rig for 2 hours today.
Magnepan 3.7i Amplifiers Aesthetix or Modwright? Thoughts? I wish I had the room for it.
Magnepan 3.7i Amplifiers Aesthetix or Modwright? Thoughts? What do you NOT like about the Mac? It certainly has enough power and current. Current is over 60 amps per channel and probably closer to 90 amps.
Timbernation Platform Problems @joecasey While I am happy that your rack met your expectations, the maple platform I bought from Timbernation was a horror show and I am definitely not some illogical troll. IMHO, the person at Timbernation that did the work on that platform sho...
Soooooooo many possibilities...! I bought a McIntosh C2500 preamp in almost new condition from Audio Classics for 4300.00. It is a great tube preamp and sounds wonderful with the McIntosh MC152 solid state amp. I have had many tube preamps and this reminds me most of my former ...
Michael Fremer's system @geoffkait Care to elaborate?
Michael Fremer's system @czarivey He most certainly did not. He has paid for almost everything in his system. Unlike Johnathan Valin who reviews the best stuff and keeps it on long term loans forever. Where did you get that info from?
disc player upgrade bug: Esoteric vs EMM vs PS Audio The Esoteric is a great spinner. Doubt you will be able to get something better for less than 15K, and then again, how much better? Law of diminishing returns definitely applies here.
Two Type of sound and listener preference are there more? Owning a lot of McIntosh, I am in the musicality camp. I don't care how accurate it is, I want the music to sound pleasing to me. If I can listen to hours on end without fatigue, then my goal has been met.
McIntosh MC501 or Audio Research DS450M for Magnepan 1.7 I believe those ARC amps have been listed here 2 or 3 times now. If I remember the Stereophile review, they insinuated they were more on the detail oriented analytical side. I went from Classe to Odyssey to Conrad-Johnson, Rogue, Parasound and now... |
