First Watt: current vs voltage
I guess I was misled by the 405 output pattern, which was, according to a test in HIFI Choice no. 14: 115/90/32 on right channel and 115/81/28 on the left at one Kz at one percent distortion for 8/4/2 ohms. The Sansui 919 in the same issue did 145...

Robert Browning was once ask a question about one of his poems; he replied 'When I wrote that God and Robert Browning knew what it meant, now God knows".

I am a VPI dealer and also use a Graham 2.2 and have never heard anyone say that unipiviots need constant tweeking. Maybe the same guys who change the VTA for each record thinks so. Ruin the stylus? Total BS. I had a FR 64, the FX I think, years a...
First Watt: current vs voltage
I have always seen voltage source attached to amplifiers that are capable of a high output in amps and can increasing their output into lower impedence loads. IE Krell is a voltage source amp, a Quad 405 isn't.At least this is the usage in England...
Any JBL L150A users out there?
I had a pair back in the 80s,he only JBL I ever owned. They are quite good, actually having a flat frequency response; most JBLs intentionally did not. I remember one of their more expensive ones [212 ?] had a 12 db variation.

I don't understand what you mean about unipiviot arms, I have not found them any harder to set up or to require more attention than other arms. But if I didn't want one I would look at a Jelco 750, a very nice arm at a great price.
which amps go well with Spendors
I also use the the M3.
Rogers Studio 1A Speaker...How good ?
For what its worth Blue Book is $340 but that is only a very rough guide.
which amps go well with Spendors
I have been using Spendor for over 40 years and currently have 6 pairs. Over that time I have had A LOT of amps on them and from my experence they do 2 things: 1 they sound good with about anything and 2 the better the amp the better they sound. S...
Linn Linto question
The Linto is a phono stage so any line level input, Aux, Tuner etc. DO NOT use MM, you could damage your system as it will greatly overload the pre. You will not need a phono stage in whatever pre you get as the Linto will take care of it; it is q...
Rogers Studio 1A Speaker...How good ?
They were quite good and would still be if in good shape. I haven't heard the VR-2s and haven't heard the Rogers in years so couldn't give an opinion on how they compare. The Rogers was not fussy about amps and should work with either tubes or SS.
Cartridge for a vintage Sansui table/arm
These were just not that good a table and you would be wasteing your money to spend very much. A Shure 97 would be a good match and I have seen them for around $70 in the past. Save the rest of the money for a better table and arm.
AAD Silver Reference with Transparent Cable?
My speakers are internally wired with VDH and I am using Cardas GR for speaker cables. I have had good luck with Antipodes Audio silver jumpers, which are $120 with return if not satisfied. Well made and sound better than a large number of others ...
What will raising the Va of atransformers provide?
Because Class A runs at full output all the time while AB varies with demand. Since the transformers already handle full output bigger ones will not improve the sound. An insight into why well designed Class A amps are so large and expensive.
Speaker Cables for Quad ESL57
I started using 57s in 1964 and was a dealer for Quad for years. I never found them sonically demanding but they present a difficult load for an amp which might be aggravated by using a cable with extreme properities. A friend who still has a pair...
