Linn LP12 Bearing Lube
Try the Linn shop on ebay and see if they have it; let them know that the US importer has none. I got mine from Spinning Dog last year; I understood that they were going out of business.
Multiple turntables
I usually have two connected; a VPI [model varies] and a modified LP 12. The LP 12 serves as a constant as I don't sell them; the VPIs are for sale. The Linn is mounted on a very old Russ Andrews Torlite stand with Star Sound brass cones for feet....
Good all around speaker stands...
Go down to your local yard art store and get some concrete stands. Some of them are quite attractive and can be painted to match your system. They are also very stable and non resonate; I had thought that this was my idea but when I looked on the ...
Best Platter Material
Yes. it does matter what the platter material is even if you use a mat and no, there is not one material that will guarantee the best sound. There are three very important things in audio; they are EXECUTION, EXECUTION, EXECUTION.
Isolation/Vibration control advise for a phono pre
I had two friends who didn't believe they these devices would make a difference but both heard the difference right away. I have used several ; all of them worked , I am now using SR MIGs.
Balanced connection from pre-amp to amp--Need help
As Al said it is not a major problem, my CJ amp inverts phase; I think most if not all Conrad Johnson's do; as do many others. Just reverse the speaker leads as he says
Magic Eraser as Isolation Feet
Elizabeth, I find Swiss works better for Holy music.
Is Gold Aero still in business?
I remember them well, still have some of their tubes unused in a drawer somewhere I think. I always thought they were a marketing firm rather then a manufacture; that is they commissioned tube companies to make tubes to their specifications. But i...
subs for Sonus Faber Cremona M floor standing
I disagree with Rauliruegas about how to use the subs. I have found it ALWAYS better to run the speakers full range and only use the subs to augment the very bottom end. True, you don't relieve the amp of some work but on the other hand you are no...
AC regenerator
I use the PS PPP with a Meridian 200 transport and it sounds much better than from wall current even though I have 2 dedicated lines and Oyaide AC receptacles.
Rubber Washer VPI Scout
Actually, I never used the standard VPI clamp; I used either the TNT weight, the TTW weight or one of the TTW clamps. I still don't understand how having a washer under the record will give a tighter contact than having the record flat on the plat...
subs for Sonus Faber Cremona M floor standing
I use 2 REL Stadium subs with my Gamut L5s, which are similar in size and frequency response to the SFs. I was looking for a pair of Cremonas myself before I got a great deal on the Gamuts. The JL is suppose to be very good also but I haven't hear...
Standmount speaker... Cardas Method or manual
There is not one method that is best for all rooms and speakers. For example my Spendor S 100s sound best angled in so they cross ahead of the listener; this is the factory recommended setting. My Gamut L5s sound better pointed straight ahead; aga...
Rubber Washer VPI Scout
I would try it without the washer; I thought it made better contact with the platter that way anyway.
C7 - two prong Power Cord make a difference ?
I would get an adapter myself; Voodoo and Pangea make good ones for most uses. I have a Voodoo 15 to 20 amp and a Pangea C5 to standard PC and both work well.
