VPI Scout "tweaks"
4, they replace the original VPI feet. You unscrew them and screw these in in their place. Very straightforward. Takes about five minutes if you are younger, 10 if you are my age.
Powered subwoofer and phase inverted preamp
If you want to restore normal polarity wire the speakers and sub with amp hot to speaker ground (or vice versa). You can reverse the polarity of the sub by wireing it in the usual manner, hot to hot etc. You can check to see which wireing is bette...
Powered subwoofer and phase inverted preamp
It depends on your room and system. My RELs have a phase inversion switch and advise that the correct position will depend on individual conditions. Just overlap the wires or use bare wire to the mains and use a banana plug to connect the sub sign...
Anyone still using CD mats?
I had not seen Rloggie's post when I wrote mine, I would take him up on it, my friends could also hear a difference on one of their systems.
Anyone still using CD mats?
I use the German mat , I think it is the Millennium, that is made of carbon fiber and runs about $110. I think it is a definite improvement. My wife could hear it and she is not an audiophile. I use to use a metal mat in the early days but it is t...
VPI Scout "tweaks"
It is 1.5AP-1A.5. with 1/4-20 thread. The coupling discs have only one size. Stan
Which screwdriver needed for Musical Fidelity A324
I think they are Allen wrenches or Allen keys as they are also called. almost certainly metric. The Torx and Star are the same thing. My eyes are not what they were so I am not sure but I would take it to a large hardware , it is either Torx or Al...
Replacement Feet For Rega Planar 3
The Star Sound Audio threaded brass cones made a big difference on my Scoutmaster, you could look at them.
Speed control VPI HW19jr
You can look for the previous generation VPI speed control boxes. I have one I am going to list for $195 when I get around to it. It has separate dials for 33 and 45 and a switch to select either. Pro -Ject also has some speed control boxes, I hav...

Did you try a Torx? I have sold British equipment for years and have never seen anything that needed a tool not available in US. I have the TriVista 21 and will see what it uses.
AT OC9 tracking problem. Worn out?
My OC9 is 20 years old but had a long period when it wasn't used. I use 2.2G. Almost invariably cartridges have a lighter than optimum recommended TF. I used mine in my SME IV and now in VPI Scoutmaster and I never tracked under 2g. Try a little h...
2 interconnects or y-cable?
Either way, you can get good Y cables made up, don't use cheap ones.
What's the best sounding equipment racks?
I was looking recently and liked the Star Sound so well I became a dealer for them. Amazingly effective at damping vibrations and looks good also. The Finite Elemente MIGHT be better but cost 4x as much.
VPI Scoutmaster vs. Pro-ject RM10
I had the same idea about the rubber washer. The feet with ball bearings and rubber are just not as rigid as the Star Sound. Use the coupling discs and they should work with the aluminum, I would think. Stan
VPI Scout "tweaks"
Harry told me which to use. I think the others are for the older tables. The 1/4th -20 work, I have been using them. I ordered the washers in case but horrors! didn't level my table when I put the new feet on. I know, I should have but it sounded ...
